I just found this, and it's for real

    (05-10) 12:14 PDT PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) --

Star Trek fans fluent in Klingon take note -- there's a job opening in Oregon for you.

The fictional language of the popular TV and movie science fiction series is one of about 55 languages needed by the office that treats mental health patients in metropolitan Multnomah County.

"We have to provide information in all the languages our clients speak," said Jerry Jelusich, a procurement specialist for the county Department of Human Services, which serves about 60,000 mental health clients.

County research has shown that Klingon has gone from being a fictional tongue to what many people -- and not just fans -- consider a complete language, with its own grammar, syntax and vocabulary.

If a patient speaks only Klingon, the county is obligated to respond with a Klingon interpreter. So officials have decided to include it with about 55 languages, some of which, such as Russian and Vietnamese, are widely spoken, and some, such as Dari and Tongan, are seldom spoken.

The county's purchasing administrator, Franna Hathaway, greeted the request to include Klingon with skepticism.

But, she said, "There are some cases where we've had mental health patients where this was all they would speak."

I was surfing Ebay earlier and, if you look under the properties section, there's a flat going that's an entire mock up of the interior of the Enterprise (unfortunately it's in the States - where else?? - and massively expensive).

Now what kind of neighbour would live there .....

Like you say, only in America ....

There was a chap on Richard and Judy a few months ago who had turned his flat into a mock up of the Enterprise. And he was right here in UK.

Do you think people like that haven't grown up? I wonder how much noise he made transforming his flat? On the surface it seems like a harmless eccentricity but is it?

I wonder how to say all that in Klingon?

Brings to mind all those jokes about "Klingons round Uranus" Actually, on looking at Ebay again, I think the flat is in England so it might be the same bloke. Says he's been on the telly with it. The price was two million dollars so I assumed ....

Still can't beat the original Star Trek - Kirk and Spock running round and round the same old cardboard rock. Last time I watched the new stuff the mad bloke from the A Team was in it.

I saw that flat on the tele - have to say it looked really good!

Original Star Trek was the one and only!

I can understand fascinations and obsessions, having a few "interests" myself - but living with one mindset day in and day out - surely a person would get sick of it? You can't always feel like you want to live in Th Enterprise or whatever, much better to have it as a refuge and to dip into it.

As for the language - ditto. Who was it who said he was sure the French speak English when our backs are turned? Maybe Mr Crisp.

Jeannie, will have another go at PM you - last one got timed out. I will persevere!!!!!

              Jeannie!

Tsk! That's Dwight Schultz - he's fantastic! You probably saw him on ST: Voyager or on maybe some of the Next Generation episodes (Jean Luc Picard et al)......

Admittedly he was delightfully craaaaaazy in the A Team wasn't he? (Classic!). How they 'busted' him out of the 'asylum' so many times and so creatively, I'll never know!

Ah, Dwight Schultz - AKA Mad Murdoch. That takes me back. Trying to get BA on a plane or any form of flying thing. All those explosions and no-one getting killed. How "Face" was supposed to be a master of disguise but always just looked like he'd stuck a fake tache and a bad wig on ...

I think they were going to do a big screen movie of the A-Team with Mel Gibson as Hannibal and Jim Carrey as MM but the salary budget alone was hilarious. Would be good though. There are now two generations of kids out there who never knew the wonders of the "crack commandos assigned to a maximum security stockade for a crime they did not commit". Can you guess I was a fan?

Memories from my youth reading "Look-In" magazine and eating "Hanky Panky". Does ANYONE apart from me remember Hanky Panky? They were like a popcorn sort of snack thing. Can't think why they withdrew that item from the shelves.

I remember taking my son to see Mr.T in panto

I've always liked ST. Mr.Spock was my hero and I've still got an LP somewhere of 'Mr.Spock's music from Outer Space' I remember buying 'Teach yourself Logic' and I've still got that with some stickers (from cornflakes) of Mr.Spock and Kirk still stuck on it. That's as far as my addiction ever got

                    All Vulcans have green blood

                    Spock is a Vulcan

                    Therefore Spock has green blood

See, I still remember what a syllogism is from that logic book

I'm trying to get my head round Misty seeing Mr. T. in panto!! What was he in? I would have paid good money to see that.

I think they should bring the old Star Trek back again on BBC 2 after the Simpsons. I used to love that. Now it's that endless Fresh Prince which is just detritus of the highest order.

I think it must have been Aladdin because I seem to recall he played the genie. It was about 13 years ago so the memory is a bit faded. He seemed smaller than he appears on tv.
