    Hello all

Well my good news is that I contacted my son's social worker today and she has been working very hard for me. She contacted the HA and tried to speak to the housing manager, who is never available! Then she was told that my housing officer was on annual leave (aren't they always) and won't be back until tomorrow. She was told that my housing officer would ring her in the morning as it is a very urgent matter. Maybe she'll get the call, who knows?

She also contacted the Harrassment Team at the local council and apparently spoke to one of the managers, who said that he will look into my situation further. Unfortunately, when the social worker asked if there was suitable alternative accommodation, there was apparently none! But at least I have another active person in my corner.

It's a long road, but now I'm on it...at last!

Thats great news Tristar, most folk don't even get that far!

It sounds awful, but you could be a bit sly and play the "vulnerable and at risk card" (i would hate having to do this too) but play on this and you'll get max. sympathy and maybe a speedy response and rehoused

Whooppeeee have got cabin fever as NFH are out and about!

Good News - I like to hear good news even though it is just a small step along a very difficult pathway.

Just keep on plugging away and don't give up. You sound like you have a good social worker which is going to benefit you greatly in the long run.

Tristar, great news It never hurts to have someone 'on the inside', as it were, on your side.

As to the phone call, well, you'll just have to wait and see. I was waiting for a phone call from our local HA today but nothing happened. Oh, well, I'll just wait a couple of days and then phone them.

I really hope your son's social worker comes good for you. My one piece of advice now is to stick with it, don't lose the momentum.

        Good luck

          Hi tristar

Great news about the Social Worker.

If you are in need of alternative accommodation as it is "no longer reasonable for you to continue to occupy" your home, then you can make an application as homeless under Part VII Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002).

You make this application to your local authority's Housing Department. Your Social Worker may also be able to support you in this.

The LA (local authority) have a duty to investigate and provide you with suitable temporary accommodation whilst they do so. (If your LA say there is none available - tell them to make it available otherwise you will pursue a judicial review of their failure to accommodate and get a specialist Housing Solicitor on your side!).

          Good luck.

Aah, but HA workers don't I found out why my nice HA man didn't phone me yesterday and it wasn't because he was on holiday. My sister told me he was helping at a presentation at a house in her close. The HA are making a big thing of renovating the close and have an 'open house' every few weeks to inform the residents of progress and such.

Anyway, it's Wednesday now, so no excuses

                Hello All

As expected, no telephone calls yesterday

I'm all prepared with my log sheets, letters, photographic evidence etc. for my solicitors appointment today!

I can't seem to sleep! Just as I was dropping off a couple of hours ago, Norma decided to bang on the wall Does she need help or what? It always happens so unexpectedly. Luckily the boys stayed asleep, I think they've got used to it now!

Not to worry, another step along that log hard road tomorrow, and a little closer to sanity

I've got my fingers toes and everything else crossed!
