We live in social housing and there was no consideration given by the landlord with respect to sound insulation
Rather than connecting with the community, the government has imposed new structures that are so remote from the people that they have become discredited and dysfunctional
The neighbour next door, who makes plenty of noise himself, seems to think that because he has lived here longer than anybody else, and that he has the contacts of the local thugs via his son, he can do anything he pleases
I am currently having neighbour from hell type problems, but am finding it very difficult to resolve. The neighbour is unreasonable, abusive, unpredictable, recently attempted arson and there is very little back up from police
Bad neighbours can make your life a misery. Local council could do a lot more than they do to help
Local authority no help at all. You really are on your own. If you are not tough, it is even tougher
The laws in this country need a serious looking at. The lack of law is the problem to our present situation
I have used all options open to me to try and stem the amount of Anti-Social Behaviour and nothing has been forthcoming - the police particularly have turned a blind eye and have admitted that they would have assaulted the offenders by now if they had to live with it!
In my view, local authorities and the judiciary do not take seriously enough the issue of noise, harassment, anti social behaviour and the like. The Police have their hands tied by ineffective laws. Councils do not act promptly or decisively against nuisance neighbours
Some people think they can do whatever they want, whenever they want. No-one has consideration for anyone else anymore
Me and my partner feel we savour the times when this noise isn't occurring. We often feel stressed as we feel it is "due" to start
Where disputes are occurring, MEDIATION DOESN'T WORK, it just makes the complainant more scared of attack / abuse and those doing the abuse
It is often the case that with noisy neighbours the issue of noise is used by some neighbours to terrorise. It escalates into harassment if the perpetrator is not dealt with. Mediation is definitely inappropriate in dealing with the majority of neighbour from hell cases
We have had a lot of help and support from the Local Authority Environmental Health 'Noise Patrol' Team and from the local police
The difference in services provided from area to area is amazing
We moved here to escape a NFH and 2 years later we now have another!
We don't do anything wrong, but they still don't think we're good enough to live next to them in their street (they actually think it's their street)
Glad to know that we are not alone. Wish we had a computer 3 plus years ago, before our court case
I live next to the teenage daughter from hell, she's been excluded from school and if she's not asleep, all she does is play music full blast
In my view, local authorities and the judiciary do not take seriously enough the issue of noise, harassment, anti social behaviour and the like. The Police have their hands tied by ineffective laws. Councils do not act promptly or decisively against nuisance neighbours. No one should have to suffer for months or years at the hands of Neighbours from Hell
The laws in the UK are a total ass. You acquire a neighbour from hell .....they ruin the value of your property yet you cant sue them for the loss!
There are no laws to protect the victims
My main problem started with the laminate floor put down above us. It would be great to get a change in the law on this
From my own experience, and that of friends, most persistent offenders are only too aware of the nuisance they are creating, which most often negates 'softly-softly' approaches
Magistrates should have better training in respect of ASB
Our Nightmare went on for six months without any help from Police or Council. It was only resolved when things came to a head one day and I threatened to burn them out of their house if they did not move. They moved within a fortnight. I would have done it
Major dissatisfaction with authorities - police, council, housing associations etc. Mainly because they say they will act, but never actually do anything
