24th April 2003

These are results from an informal poll that our internet based forum community and website 'Neighbours From Hell in Britain' has recently completed.

Neighbours From Hell in Britain is a very active online Internet forum community and website that exists to help people in Great Britain who suffer or who have suffered with problem neighbours. The problems that individuals suffer with range from noisy neighbours, harassment, bullying, boundary problems, anti-social behaviour, car parking problems, pet/animal nuisance and many forms of unwanted neighbour attention or interference. Some of our members also experience antisocial behaviour and unwanted attention from children/young-people that live in their communities.

Our first website based poll ran from the 22nd March - 23rd April 2003 (just over a month) and we surveyed 100 people exactly to ask them what their WORST Neighbour From Hell problem is (from a choice given of 10), these are the results after we asked voters to pick one choice only:

Question was: Which is your WORST Neighbour From Hell problem? (Pick 1) -

(Choice and percentages in order follow):

Noise (e.g. Loud Music/Neighbour Arguments) = 34%

Harassment/Bullying = 22%

Children/Young People Problems = 12%

Boundary Problems = 8%

Other = 7%

Car Parking Issues = 6%

Rubbish/Litter = 6%

Animal Disturbance (e.g. Pets/Dogs) = 3%

Rights of Way Issue = 1%

General Crime = 1%

(Votes: 100)

As you can see, the problem of Noise is the highest percentage, with the problems of harassment & bullying coming second. We believe this is probably the most up-to-date informal poll of this nature at this time.

You are free to use this information, but we would ask that if you use the results and details, you must credit 'Neighbours From Hell in Britain' as the source and with our website address of www.nfh.org.uk

We would also be grateful if you do decide to use this data, please inform us before it is published with information on where and how it is to appear.

Neighbours From Hell in Britain is also currently conducting its first formal survey into the problems of nuisance and troublesome neighbours. This poll will produce more detailed statistics (geographical data, problem causes, time spans etc) and we would be happy to pass you the data when the survey is completed later this year. If you would like this information, please let us know.

Should you need any further information or help, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.
