Nuisance Neighbours part of everyday life

Now we are in the 21st century, you would think that those people who negatively affect the lives of their neighbours or communities are dealt with swiftly and effectively. In 2006, nuisance neighbours are now very commonly found in all communities.

In these enlightened times, you would expect that a neighbour who insists on making the lives of those around them an absolute misery, is at least stopped from doing so.

In today's modern society, where the 'ASBO' and 'yob' is as common a term as you'll now hear anywhere, really, wouldn't you expect the 'neighbour from hell' to be swiftly dealt with? Well, wouldn't you?

Sadly, no. Those neighbours from hell in our communities seem to be more rife than ever before. Lack of action is apparent by those in authority which seems to be less and less effective, taking longer and longer.

The result? Those people and communities who are on the receiving end of a neighbour from hell or anti-social behaviour on their backdoor step are suffering. They are suffering because of an ineffective system, hopeless laws and a 'don't want to know' attitude from many local authorities and police forces.

Is it any wonder that some individuals believe that the only way forward is to take matters into their own hands, as regular news of frustrated communities dealing with anti-social behaviour continues to emerge throughout 2006?

The internet-based, independent organisation, 'Neighbours From Hell in Britain' (NFHiB at www.nfh.org.uk) don't condone unlawful neighbour retaliation. They believe it is possible, that up to 1 in 7 people in Britain are currently experiencing a nuisance neighbour or some form of unwanted, intrusive, anti-social behaviour close to home.

A NFHiB spokesperson said "we believe that in this country, it is likely that 1 in 7 people are currently living with a neighbour from hell. This figure could well be higher".

That's an eye-watering, staggering amount of people who are living their lives with unwanted neighbour or community nuisance and interference. That's a huge amount of people that can't enjoy their own home or make their 'castle' their own.

Results from a nuisance neighbour survey undertaken by Neighbours From Hell in Britain during 2006, showed that Neighbour Noise accounted for the biggest problem experienced by survey participants. Anti-Social Behaviour was identified as the next biggest rival, coming as the runner-up.

NFHiB has now been in existence, offering free online support and advice since 2002. As NFHiB reaches its 4th birthday and into a 5th year of free support to Neighbour From Hell sufferers across the length and breadth of Britain, the very fact that it exists at all, is enough proof to suggest that neighbours from hell are not dealt with swiftly or effectively enough in this country.

The internet forum at Neighbours From Hell in Britain is abuzz with information to help anyone who is experiencing neighbours from hell. Now with almost 13,000 registered members and a total of 180,000 'posts', members can get free help and supportive information from people who understand and others who care. Forum users have many experiences to share, from neighbour harassment, bullying and physical assaults, to many other unpleasant experiences.

Is it not time to reclaim what is rightfully ours? Do we not have a right to live in peace and quiet, to enjoy our homes and properties without un-neighbourly interference?

Neighbours From Hell in Britain believe we do have that right – the right to enjoy our homes and to live without the constant or actual threat of unwanted neighbour behaviour or anti-social behaviour.

The right to be entitled to what is fundamentally ours.

More about NFHiB: Neighbours From Hell in Britain (NFHiB) was created in 2002, due to the site creator's personal experiences with repeatedly anti-social, noisy, inconsiderate and rude neighbours. A 'NFH' (Neighbour From Hell) can come from any walk of life and any part of society and the large amount of collective experience and information contained within NFHiB can help you address neighbour issues in any situation. It is a voluntary not for profit organisation which receives no external funding, but has a massive amount of site visits every month.
