SUBJECT: Neighbours From Hell in Britain: September 2003 Newsletter
"The Summer is over" edition of the NFHiB Newsletter
Hello to you all, I hope you had a good summer, this newsletter was going to be a summer special but suddenly the summer had gone so I do apologise for the lateness of this edition.
So did your summer go as you thought it would?
Was it better or worse?
Many members did have to put up with noisy barbecues and children in the street, and many members have spoken of the relief when their NFH went on their holidays and were granted a bit of peace and quiet, maybe you have been away too?
Please let us know how it went for you, you can either post on the forum board
Or e-mail us for the next edition of the newsletter.
So whats new at NFHiB?
Well we now have over 600 members! How did that happen?
Unfortunately it means that over 600 people have issues with their neighbours.
We would like to give a warm welcome to Rockbank and Sapphirelily10 to the forum moderating team! Thanks for all the hard work you have already put in to the forum board guys!
Topic leaders
We also would like to thank our topic leaders for the hard work they are putting into their own areas.
Tristar is leading the Happy Zone, this is a light hearted place to tell jokes and share amusing tales, we all need a laugh when dealing with NFH!
And our newest topic leader is Vernon:
He is leading the Films 'n Stuff topic area, so if you have seen a good film recently please come and tell us what you thought.
Vernon is turning into our own Barry Norman!
Watch out though for the spoilers!
CCTV
Many people have been asking about CCTV and where they legally stand with it.
A big thanks to 2 people who have assisted NFHiB to write a self-help article on CCTV
You can find the CCTV Article from here.
There are many other self help articles in the Resources section which we hope may give victims of NFH some empowerment in their situations.
These articles include:
- Bonfires
- Harassment Act and much more, definitely worth a read.
Thanks to all the members who have helped with the preparation of these.
The Resources Article index is directly here.
Publicity
Well we have been linked by the BBC last month and the activity on the forum board shot up! Most users ever on line was recorded at 88 on Aug 12 2003, 1:03 PM - that was just after the BBC article on BBC Interactive named "Loathe thy neighbour?"
So thanks Auntie!
A few Yorkshire members have also done a newspaper interview to publicise the site and forum boards, this followed on from being made aware of a council meeting in the Kirklees area to discuss anti-social neighbours in the community. Needless to say there was a NFHiB presence at the meeting and many councillors are now aware that we exist!
So whats next?
We will have to wait and see! Any reporters out there who would like to do a story on the effects of neighbour problems please dont be shy, let us know.
Chat
Chat is still very popular; it takes place at 8pm on Tuesday and Sunday evenings. It has been suggested that we have a few themed chat nights, the first one is about noise and is going to be held on the 7th September at 8pm.
If you would like to suggest a chat theme then please e-mail and I will add it to the calendar.
Getting into chat is easy, it runs on java script and all you have to do is click the chat button at the top of the right of the forum screen. If you are already logged in as a member it will then log you in automatically, it uses the same member name and password as the forum boards.
Sorry but guests are no longer able to use the chat facility.
Well thats it for now everyone.
I hope that the end of the school holidays brings everyone a bit more peace, and soon all NFH issues will be resolved!
Till next month then!
