Neighbours From Hell in Britain - Newsletter: March 2004 (HTML Version)
I really do apologise that it has been such a long time since the last newsletter was out. As I am sure you are all aware, NFHiB is run by volunteers who also have to go to work and have family commitments and a whole list of other things we do; so please do forgive the delay in the newsletter this time.
Well New Year has been and gone and we are fast approaching the time when the clocks go forward - (28th of March, by the way!)
To start with as always, I can give you some figures, staggering ones at that!
We hit 1000 members on the 3rd January 2004 and since then we have welcomed a huge 432 new members!
And we have made between us a whopping 45,618 posts!
In some ways that's fantastic news and in other ways it means all these people are suffering at the hands of their neighbours.
I would like to say a big thank you to our support team on the forum board, it was with sadness April and Sapphirelily10 have left their positions as moderators. They have gone to follow other avenues in their lives, but I am pleased to say they are both still members of the forum; it's always good to hear from you both.
The Moderating team now consists of Matthew, Beth, Rockbank, Hollygolightly, Mistyeyeddreamer and Blue Cow.
The Topic Leaders are now Vernon, Sweetpea, Mazza, Annabel, Tristar and Hazelnut, a big thanks to our volunteers who help keep the board running smoothly, we wouldn't be able to do it without you!
Book Review
We have now got the next book review up. Andrew Barsby, the author has generously given a copy to us and this means we will be able to help a little bit more, by taking information from the book. The publication is called 'Protecting your Property' and you can find the review in the Reviews Section.
Andrew Barsby also has a website that runs alongside this book, please do check it out:
Survey
Have you filled in the survey yet?
It's here at the main NFHiB website.
We would like as many people as possible to please fill it in, it is a simple questionnaire that asks about your neighbour problem and asks for basic details. We would like to format the results on completion of this current survey and then issue a press release to anyone that might want some facts and figures. This survey may make a difference to how government officials see noise and neighbour issues, so please take part if you're yet to fill it in.
Noise Action Day
Noise Action Day is going to be held this year on 27th May, we are hoping to make a big impact in 2004 and ask that every member can send out at least one e-mail to their local paper, radio station or councillor.
There are some template letters here for forum members to use.
Let's raise the profile here at NFHiB, let's tell everyone how noise really does affect us! It's your opportunity to make a difference.
Please do tell us who you have contacted and if you have had a response, and please let us know if you are planning any activity on the day.
We can then pass the details on to the people running the event, the NSCA who are based at: www.nsca.org.uk.
I hope to be able to tell you some of the things planned in the next newsletter.
Anti-Social Behaviour Petition
One of our forum members, 'paulardros' is currently asking for signatures to an online petition calling for more 'Proposals to tackle anti-social behaviour'.
Please take a moment to sign this here if you want to have a say:
See you in the next newsletter...
Please pop along to the forum board, it's always good to see you there.
Until next time then.
