NFHiB Summer Newsletter

Well I feel I am misleading you with the title here! The summer months are here but where is the weather?

Although I do know that some members would rather it was raining and cold as it stops the NFH's gathering and causing problems.

I do apologise as it's been such a long time since the last newsletter. As you know NFHiB is run purely by volunteers in their spare time, and personally I know I don't have as much time as I would like for NFHiB.

I would like to thank all members, topic leaders and moderators for all their hard work and time given to help with the smooth running of the forum board.

If you haven't visited for a while please do. We would love to know what you have been up to recently, have your problems been solved yet? Or do you still have to put up with inconsiderate neighbours?

If you do have a success story please let us know, it does give other members a boost to know it can be done, it gives us that extra motivation. So please do post in Success Stories if you have one.

Changes

If you haven't visited for a while you will notice a few changes to the forum boards. The board has been updated to the latest version and there is also a new and improved arcade section, so come and take some of your frustrations out by shooting space men or stretch your mental skills by playing some of our word games!

The arcade is linked at the top right hand side of the forum screen.

Great fun for everyone and all are welcome!

The Forum

The forum has had a massive 1500 new members since January 2004, the membership now stands at 2569 and together we have made over 60,000 posts!

It is very sad that all our members have had to join as it means they have neighbour problems. But NFHiB warmly welcomes every single person. We hope that we can reduce the stress that everyone is feeling and I wish we could solve every single member dispute. We will as always do what we can with advice and support to try and make it a little bit better for you within our philosophy of 'support for all, which is free for all'.

Media News

At the beginning of this month we were featured in a Daily Express Newspaper article! This will hopefully be reproduced on the main site soon, so please do check. This is the biggest publicity nationally we have received up to this point. The article gave a few hints and tips and most importantly carried our web site address. A big welcome to the newer members who joined through this article.

Public Protests

We have a few protests running at the moment; we have one on the housing bill, and one of letter writing to both the Times Newspaper on line and Louise Casey, who is head of the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit. You will find both of them here at Public Protests.

Let's tell everyone that neighbourhood problems are not just little ones and we will not just go away because they want us to!

If you have a protest you would like to share with other members please do let us know, it's great to be proactive in some situations. Sometimes we need to take a little bit back to make the differences we want to happen.

During May, NFHiB members took part in Noise Action Day. Some held a stall at a local supermarket and leaflets with noise cards were handed out to the adults and balloons and stickers to the children; it was very successful and lots of people with NFH problems were invited to join the forum board. Other members contacted their radio stations and newspapers and MP's. Thanks to all those who took part, maybe bigger and better next year?!

To see the picture of the stall look here at the forum.

2004 Survey

The results are in and there are no surprises! The survey says...Noise comes first and bullying and harassment a close second.

371 people filled in the form, please pop by to see the full results. Some of the results were included in the Daily Express article. You will find the results here if you have not already seen them.

And finally...

A big thank you to all our members who make the NFHiB forum board one of the friendliest forums around!

If you would like to see anything include in the next newsletter please drop me a line beth@nfh.org.uk

I hope to see you soon on the forum board.

Take care and stay safe,

Beth
