Tormentor: Michael Hayward has been jailed for 14 months for his decade-long campaign of harassment

A neighbour from hell has been jailed after he spent a decade ordering hundreds of unwanted taxis, takeaways and two tons of coal to the homes of his victims.Paul Hayward’s campaign of harassment saw him throw mud, food and rubbish into their gardens and plague them with more than 150 silent phone calls.

His former neighbours spoke of their relief as he was sentenced to 14 months in prison after he breached an anti-social behaviour order on 19 occasions.Patricia Jones and Jim and Jill Thomas told Newport Crown Court how the 49-year-old father of two made their lives a misery.

Hayward’s house in Machen, South Wales, was sold last month, marking the end of his neighbours’ ordeal.

Ms Jones, 67, said: ‘It was ten years of hell. We couldn’t relax, we were constantly waiting and thinking “what is he going to do next?”

A NEIGHBOUR spotted blacked-out 4x4s making midnight trips to a farmhouse where a cache of weapons was dumped in the grounds.Police were last night still scouring Kessington Farm for clues after the arsenal – including AK-47s, an AS80 assault rifle and handguns– was unearthed.William Gillies, pictured, whose home overlooks the farmhouse at Killermont in Bearsden, Glasgow, said he had become suspicious about the vehicles regularly coming and going from the property in the early hours.He added: “It’s been going on for years. There’s always cars, vans and dodgy-looking 4x4s with blacked-out windows pulling up there, but no one knows who they belong to.


“They come and go in the day and also in the middle of the night.“There’s been a load of suspicious goings-on at that farmhouse but I was gobsmacked that they’d found a load of rifles.“You don’t expect that only a couple of hundred yards from your house.”Officers from Strathclyde Police’s armed response unit swooped on the farmhouse after the shock find on Thursday.But William, 60, says it is not the first time the house has been raided.He said: “The police turned the place over several years ago. I’m told they found a load of stolen car parts hidden there but I don’t know what came of it all.“I remember seeing all the police there – they even had a helicopter overhead so it must have been pretty serious.”Another neighbour, Elspeth Abraham, said she had no idea what was going on at the farm until she saw officers at the scene on Friday morning.Elspeth, 60, said: “I was shocked when I heard what had happened. I woke up on Friday morning and the place was surrounded by police cars and the lane leading up to the farmhouse was all taped off.“Then I put the news on and realised they’d found a load of guns. It’s unbelievable, it’s normally so quiet around here.”

A mother whose eyes were gouged out by her partner today said that the hardest thing was knowing she would never see her children's faces again.
Shane Jenkin, 33, subjected 32-year-old mother-of-two Tina Nash to a sickening 12-hour attack at her home in Hayle, Cornwall, leaving the attractive blonde completely blind.Surgeons removed one eye and could not save her sight in the other, after the 'vicious' assault in which Ms Nash was suffocated and left with a broken jaw and nose, Truro Crown Court heard.

She faced the cameras for the first time today since the vile attack, after attending a hearing last year hiding behind large, dark sunglasses.In a statement released after Jenkin admitted GBH with intent in court this morning, Ms Nash said she was glad he had 'at least taken responsibility for changing my life forever'.
She said: 'I think the hardest thing is the fact that I'm not going to see my kids' faces again.'Her sons, who were aged 13 and three at the time, were in the house on the night of her violent ordeal.'I actually feel that if my kids weren't in the house that night, I wish that I wasn't still here,' she added.
'He has taken everything from me and robbed me of one of the most precious things in life - my sight.


Vile: Shane Jenkin, 33, assaulted his girlfriend in a 'premeditated and vicious attack'

'I miss the things which people take for granted the most such as seeing the sky and the sea.'I truly feel that, when he was strangling me, he was trying to murder me.'Heavily-built Jenkin, of Hayle, Cornwall, was originally charged with attempted murder but admitted GBH in court today. He will be sentenced next month with two psychiatrists present.

A 51-year-old man appeared in court today charged with the attempted murder of a four-year-old boy during a horrific Easter Monday stabbing.Steve Frogg of Mansfield was remanded in custody after a brief hearing at the town's magistrates' court this morning.
The bloodsoaked child was found wandering the streets with multiple stab wounds after he was attacked outside his home while playing with a neighbour's kittens.Frogg's alleged victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is conscious and in a stable condition at the Queen's Medical Centre in nearby Nottingham, police say.

The child's father revealed he had left his animal-obsessed son playing with a neighbour's kittens when the attack took place.Frogg, dressed in a white T-shirt and dark trousers, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth, and to indicate that he understood the proceedings.
The public gallery was empty for the two-minute hearing today.
On Monday the child was rushed to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre, where he was treated for stab wounds to the head, neck and both sides of his lower torso.
Police said in a statement 'A 51-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after an attack on a four-year-old boy.'The child was found with serious injuries, believed to be stab wounds, in Frederick Street, Mansfield just before 1.30pm on Monday.
'He remains in a conscious and stable condition at Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre.'Police believe the attack was an isolated incident.'The child's father wept last night as as he spoke about the attack, revealing he had left his son playing with kittens while he did some shopping - and returned to a storm of sirens.

Jail for 'distressed' man who pulled knife on neighbour

A distressed cat lover who thought he had accidentally killed his kitten threatened a neighbour with a knife when he refused to help.
Daniel Cavanagh’s bike fell on the kitten, stunning it and causing it to bleed heavily from the mouth.
Fearing it was going to die, Cavanagh hammered on a neighbour’s door in Drakes Court, Longstanton, at 2.30am and asked to use the phone to make a call to his girlfriend.
When the householder refused because it was late, Cavanagh drew a kitchen knife and said: "If you don’t let me, I’ll stab you with this knife."
Cavanagh, 22, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday to be sentenced having admitted affray and criminal damage at an earlier hearing.
Marti Blair, prosecuting, said the victim told police he "feared for his life and believed he was going to be stabbed."
He managed to close the door, but Cavanagh then stabbed through it with the knife.
Shortly after the victim saw the defendant walk away and heard a window in the hallway being smashed.
Ms Blair added: "The victim says he now feels uncomfortable living in the flat and said he could not imagine what could have happened had his wife opened the door."
Cavanagh was arrested at his home address.
He later admitted to officers that he pulled a knife on the victim and said he "carried it for protection against other neighbours".
