Hi folks,

I took a carpet up, and under it is another one but its glued to the floor. Whats the best way to remove it? Its a full carpet not tiles, and its glued to a concrete floor at my shop.

We tried pulling and its not moving much.

GG.

very tricky methinks, which is probably why a carpet was laid right on top of it.

i think it would involve a lot of s********ing, would a hot gun help to melt the glue? or would that set fire to the carpet...ooer GG, perhaps best not to try it. :o

I would go to a carpet shop and ask their advice... :)

You should have seen us, using a crow bar to lever it up. We wondered about a heat gun, but I did not fancy burning the place down.

Have you asked for advice from a carpet supplier.?

My partner is a carpet fitter, his advice is to s********e it all up, or ask for some substance that will melt the glue. Its abviously been put down with the wrong glue, carpet glue dosen't go completely "off", so you don't get this problem.
But he is sure there is something to melt it off.

I found out that you can get a carpet s********er, I think its called. Cannot afford one so I am going to try using a garden hoe. Looks very similiar so may work.
