As I feeling very poorly and sorry for myself at the moment I thought I would ask all of you what you do when you are poorly. Or if you don't give in to it what would you like to do?

I like to drink lucozade. It has to be the original not the orange one or anything. I like to lie on the sofa and watch old films and cuddle my lamb from when I was little.
I'm afraid I do revert to being 9 again! I have to phone my Nan or have her over if I am very ill and I like to cuddle up to Mr T.

Pathetic I know! :D

I have just watched George & Mildred the movie, but I haven't got any lucozade!! Also Nan isn't in and I can't be bothered to go upstairs and get Larry the lamb!
Will have to wait for Mr T now, but he will probably say "Get off I don't want to catch it!"

Hi T

Hope you feel better soon..

When I am poorly I have to carry on as normal as MrT always says you can't feel that bad.. But if he gets ill he takes to his bed!!! (because he always feels worse than me)

I would like to go to bed, have food and drinks delivered every couple of hours and watch cheesy films on telly...

Actually I would like to do that even when not ill :D

Oh T you're so sweet.

Generally if I am ill I like to stick on a favourite movie and fall asleep to it.... otherwise you get stuck with daytime telly which is amusing for the first day or so and then after that it is sooooo boring.

I never drink lemsip when I am ill as it makes me feel worse.

There's something nasty and synthetic about it.

Ooh I just rememered, my mother in law showed me how to make your own honey and lemon drink it is much nicer than anything you can buy and probably much better for you.

All you do is pour boiling water into a mug with a slice or two of lemon, then when it's cooled a bit put some runny honey in (don't do it when the water is really hot as the honey go a bit musty tasting). Drink it all down with a paracetamol or two, it is just as good as lemsip any day!!

I have to put my big towelling dressing gown on :) I curl up on the couch and watch TV, with my hankies (if its a cold) and pineapple juice

And I have to have chicken soup to eat.

I have my favourite old Eeyore with me too, and I always want my mum to come down and see me - and she doesn't want to if it's a cold in case she gets it

Oh yeah, soup is real comfort food.

I have to have cream of tomato soup and soft bread to dunk in it. Yum :)

Awww, poor Tortoise. Hope you feel better soon.

Me, I like to snuggle on the sofa in my pj's and dressing gown with a suitably hot medicinal drink, box of tissues and watch old films on TV. Looks like watching old movies is a poular one when we're ill

Hi T

Hope you feel better soon.

I very rarely get to indulge in being ill. When i have a cold , mr JJ thinks it's just a sniffle, as opposed to him having a cold which, is all of a sudden asian flu!!!!! :hihi:

Seriously, when I am ill, I love to snuggle down on our lovely floppy tetrad sofa with my duckdown quilt and watch girly chic flicks... Sleepless in Seattle...Love Actually etc. I always have a steaming hot mug of sweet tea, and if i have an appetite, then there is only Heinz Tomato soup for me!!!!

works a treat!!

Take care and a speedy recovery!!

JJ

Hope you feel better soon Tortoise

I usually wrap myself up in my duvet and curl up on the sofa and watch my tropical fish!

Two years ago both Mr C and myself had really bad flu at the same time, we were both curled up on the sofa, fighting over the box of tissues, the cough sweets, the TV remote control and the duvet.....

Take care

Hope you are feeling better!

I like a big bowl of chicken noodle soup with an egg poached in it (don't knock it til you've tried it!!) just like my Granny used to make me, snuggled up on the sofa with me duvet watching old B&W movies like Blythe Spirit, or Arsenic and Old Lace...sometimes it's even worth being ill for it!

Still sneezing, but strangely only when I stand up!!

I think I get unblocked more if I walk around. Managed some fish for supper and now have 3 bottles of lucozade!!

Have an itchy throat and nearly choked earlier in my sleep trying to scratch it with my tongue! :D

Have had my head over 2 steam inhalations, so now have lovely clear skin! Shame I look like sh**!!

I am on my own downstairs as Mr T is working out how to programme the air conditioning. Little T has finally gone to bed.

Thank you all for your sympathy, you are all wonderful.

Totally agree Helly, would rather have anything but a cold.

Phantos02, didn't realise quite how big my new tortoise was!!

I freeze portions of my homemade chicken soup (tinned soup just isn't the same). When I get sick I defrost a few portions and bake a loaf in my bread machine to dunk in it - heavenly!!
I like to drink pure orange juice. I take lempsip capsules as I can't stand the drink! I like a long hot osak in the bath and then I put a pillow and patchwork quilt on the settee and watch something soppy. My pets seem to know when I'm poorly. Dilbert, our cat snuggles up with me while Fatty Arbuckle, our labrador, lies on the floor with his head resting on the settee so I can stroke him. If I'm shivering I go to bed and turn on the electric blanket full blast, which is bliss!
I burn olbas oil to help clear my head - it also kills airbourne germs.

I still manage to load the dishwasher and washing machine and perhaps put on a casserole in the slow cooker. I can't relax unless at least the lounge is tidy.

Those gel filled cooling head sheets you can get at the chemist are brill for reducing a temperature - I also use them for bad headaches. Another good thing are tissues with aloe vera as you are then able to avoid sore nose syndrome.

I LOVE it when my girls get sick, as they want their Mummy to pamper them! I bring them snacks on a tray, fuss over them and watch films with them.

Mr DG is a big girl when he's ill! He stays in bed and refuses to move except to shuffle into the ensuite and have a tiddle. He expects his meals on a tray and regular cups of tea to be bought to him. He reverts to childhood and wants me to wait on him.
