in a word "not really"
had scan. everything is ok, but baby was in breech position holding its foot so finding the sex was difficult. the scanner said she couldn't see an obvious willy so it's probably a girl.
estimated circumference of babys head at 40 weeks is 40cm. i am wincing.
my sister said "go back in a couple of weeks saying youve had some pain" so i can get scanned again. i wont do that as it might take up valuable time for someone who really needs a scan.
Congratulations....
When are you due?
Never mind about the scan just think of the suprise at the end!!

Are you dead keen to know the sex then? :hihi:
When I was expecting it was hospital policy not to tell people the sex of the baby. (party poopers)
People used to pay for private scans to find out - it was £50 back then (9 yrs ago).

due date 01/12/05. my notes say i have placental lakes, whatever they are. hoping they aint anything to worry about.
Hi,
Placental lakes are nothing to worry about.
I have copied this of a pregnancy website for you
'Because it would seem placental lakes are so common and have no significance, most sonographers do not report them or even mention them to women.'
Sorry don't worry and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.
Have you picked any names yet?

Hi Bird Woman,
What on earth are placental lakes?!!!
Anyway I am sure they would have said if it was anything to worry about. Glad everything seems to be going OK. Are you more excited or nervous?!
Hi,
Placental lakes are seen on scans as black areas on the surface or deeper inside the placenta and are actually pools of blood.
About 1 in 3 pregnant women have them.
But they are nothing to worry about.
Hi again birdwomen
This site is really helpful http://www.babycentre.co.uk/expert/557443.html it tells you all about placental lakes. Its also has lots of other pregnancy information. I used it alot when I was pregnant.

Good luck with your pregnancy. I spent most of the time with my feet up eating bacon sarnies!

mmmmm bacon sarnies! i had a thing for strawberry cheesecake up until about 6 weeks ago when it changed to cheddar. cant get enough of cheddar.
cheers for the info regards placental lakes. i was saying to my sister earlier its a shame that i cant have a private room when i give birth and have to stay in for the day or so as looking at the clientel at the hospital today id rather i did have a private room. god there were some seriously scummy, foul mouthed mums to be up there. :hihi: does that make me a snob?
names are either :
charlotte elizabeth (charlie for short, after my dad and elizabeth after my partners nan)
charles derek (charlie for short after my dad and derek after partners grandad)
baby is very active today. probably all that poking it got with the scan implement.
Hi
Once the baby is born you will not notice or hear anyone around you...
The babys screams drown them out....only joking
I had to stay in for 3 days with each of mine and I was so involved with baby I didn't notice anything going on around me.
I love the name charlie..
hi bw
thats nice and simple charlie either way so hope you and charlie are fine
dont worry about the other mums (there are plenty of waynettas)it doesnt make you a snob but once charlies born you wont care who you are sharing a room with it makes you go all mellow

Hmm, "said she couldn't see an obvious willy"
If it does turn out to be a boy, let's hope no woman ever says that about him again! ;)
