View Full Version : Silence Golden As Tensions Rise Over Noise

Noise seems just as bad and frustrating to have enforced as the UK. Even though there are the possibilities of a bit more space, it seems that it gives noisemakers the impression they can be even louder, making even a bit more distance feel as though there is no real difference. I hate thinking about another long summer of noise and not being able to open the windows or garden outside in relative peace.
Here's a short article of the escalation of noise in the US.

It is sad to know that you people over there are suffering with noisy neighbours too, :ban:

All the world over, noise pollution requires noisy g*ts and lazy officials and lazy police officers. ("Oh, PLEASE don't make us enforce laws! That's too hard!" )

Hi Neighboured,
I just can't see how it can be ignored too much longer. It's such a frustrating situation as you don't want to get to the point of having a noise issue enforced. It's like a bandaid to a larger problem that is going on. Those who feel their noise was no problem are going to make it miserable in other ways. I just don't know what the solution is when the media message of being loud is no problem is continually validated.

It just seems like every summer is worse than the previous one. Noise trumps quiet every time.

Thanks for the reply Jimmy. It's good to have a place like this though to express the frustration of noise and write our experiences.

Yeah. Quite. "If it's too loud, your too old" is a very old joke.
Mind you, a workmate of mine is a former drummer. Had to give it up. Tinitus caused by playing on stage and in studios.
He told someone that their music was too loud and they gave him the "If it's too loud..." line. To which he replied: "That's what I used to say. But it was the loudness of the music I listened to that destroyed my hearing." B)
