Hi everyone,
I SEEM to remember in the distant past folks on here talking about going on a diet like me. :P
I decided that I should renew my online subs to weight watchers. I was shocked to see that I am still a member, and have to admit the last record I did of my weight was 2 years ago.
Any way I have ordered my healthy eating food from my online supermarket. I am also off to buy some salad items.
I am 4ft 11, and weigh 11 stone.
I want to lose 3 stone. I have lost a stone before but by then I get fed up.
I tend to comfort eat, and eat after 7pm which is a big no no.
I am starting my diet tomorrow.
I like the weight watchers because I can eat whatever I want , but I have a points system.
The question is who else is going to diet too?
GG.
ME!
I am a comfort eater and have put on about a stone and a half because of comfort eating caused by NFH. :badmood:
I used to exercise more and have an exercise bike which is great, but I spend too much time on here  to use it as much as I did. I tried using it while adding my posts but I kept falling off the bike :hihi:  I either have to stop spending so long on here and exercise instead, or carry on as I am which I don't want.
I'm about 5'5 or 6 and not telling anyone how much I weigh  :P , but I promise I'll be honest with weight loss.
But I have a downstairs toilet, and not enough self discipline to go upstairs
I've been on a health kick all week. Been eating nuts, seeds and berries. Haven't lost anything, but I have a lovely bushy tail :hihi:  [Honest, I have been eating nuts, seeds and berries - and salads]

i have a 'trampette' as well, i thought i would use it loads, but alas, no!!!
 I used to have a mini trampoline.
Sold it at a car boot sale a couple of years ago
My exercise bike is next to the computer and I keep looking at it and thinking, I really must not spend so much time on the computer, but .......
Now I feel guilty. :badmood:
I'm going out for a walk and if I happen to pass a bakers........ :hihi:

Ha ha ha,
Rebounder trampoline and marmite 8-X scary thought. I fancy trying the dance exercises at the gym.
Credit to you guys giving up smoking :notworthy:
GG.
hi all
i find diet on its own doesnt help much it really needs excersice as well
tried all of the obvious exercise bike stepper rowing machine but find them so boring so i decided to dance for an hour a couple of nights a week and walk as much as i could
and its true what has been said living on mainly fruit and veg doesnt seem to shift the weight
im diabetic so have to stick to healthy eating now the advice i have been given is to check food labels anything under 5 grams of saturated fat is good
and that my plate should consist of mainly veg and pulses and just enough lean meat to cover the palm of my hand(wish i had bigger hands) and to eat the carbs first because they are more filling
in 2001 when i was given this advice i weighed 14 stone 6lbs 4 years on im 10 stone 7lbs so its shifted qiuet a bit i spose
i still sin i have the odd packet of crisps and chocolate and portion of chips from the chippy but only in moderation
i honestly believe if you deny yourself everything nice you will just get miserable and find it hard to stick to
if you fancy a mars bar have a fun size one crisps go for quavers lower in fat
good luck to you all

Now I,m off for a walk to the hairdressers for a trim, then off to buy some fruit and veg.

Its spanish omellete for tea with tomatoes, mushrooms and meat bits in it. And a glass of water.
I tend to drink too much diet coke, I used to drink the full version but changed last time I dieted.

Where as I, went out for a walk, went straight past the bakers  without going in, and went to the supermarket and bought lots of fish, chicken, salads, fruit and veg  What a good girl am I? :hihi:
The only things I can't give up completely are chocolate and wine. IMO life would not be worth living without either of them :hihi:  :jump: So, tonight I will virtuously eat my fish and salad, washed down with a bottle of chilled Chardonnay, and some chocolate later   :wine: :eatin:
Feel 2 stone lighter already

This is due to getting my appetite back after a long time and making up for lost time!! :innocent:
And I smoke so dread to think what would happen when I give up, but I will.

Hot weekend ahead, and can't get in last years summer clothes, cos of NFH induced comfort eating :badmood:

Ahah!!
Hippychic, I used to be a nurse, and still suffer with back injury. [I am being serious now, guys ;) ]
My problem is, being overweight does not help back injuries, and back injuries can stop you doing certain exercises, so the result is - a vicious circle. I do use my exercise bike, and I walk everywhere Mon-Fri [which is a lot of walking], but my back is killing me whatever I do. It comes and goes, is bad right now, and, no, nothing can be done for it. :badmood:
Off to bed with a bar of chocolate :badmood: .......if I make the stairs  :badmood: :hihi:

Hi goosegirl
God what a battle diet is...........you know some people will be thin all there life no matter what.......its a genetic thing.......(im not trying to depress you).......but there is people who will always fight to stay in shape.......and yes i am one of them.........we have an unfair disadvantage........my wife has to take pills for the rest of her life and one side effect is she puts on weight regardless...........so she is always going to be on a diet........a diet more then healthy eating......(i know its almost the same thing)......so when people look at her they automaticaly think she eats too much..........but to be fair she eats more than me............i hope all of the people reading this can relate in some way as to how i feel.
Some of you might say its an unfair disadvantage for my wife andnot me........but i feel myself and my wife are as one........and what she goes through i go through.......would it really be fair of me to slim down and be extra fit..........and she really struggles......no we try and keep each other on the same track.............(if you know what i mean).
Please keep up with the diet GGirl.......we are all behind you.
P.S. sorry to hear you have a bad back too
hope it gets better soon

Hi again,
I,m back feeling better now. Just keeping in the shade inside reading a book. My fellas hay fever is giving him hassle so he is resting too. Even my poor dog is joining in with a bad tum. Its the sudden heat wave we are having.
bikerroc,
Thanks I feel a lot better now.
Idunnit1,
Hi there,
I used to be one of those stick people until I hit 39, and our nfh arrived. I cannot win when I was my ideal weight, people would always try to force food my way. I always ate exactly what I wanted when I wanted. When I have a really bad migraine I cannot eat or drink for a day or more. People would act as if I had a eating disorder.
My ideal weight is 7st 6lb, I used to weigh 9st until I reached 39.
The ideal weigh for my height 4ft 11inces is 7st 6inces.
I am 11 st, and want to lose 3st.
Its not me with the back pains, I do have scoliosis (curature of the spine) and more metal than Barry Sheene. But nothing short of a new spine will help me.
But any way I've had a omellote with onions, tomatos, potatos, and cheese for tea.
Not forgetting I also have gout so I have to slim slowly other wise my foot swells up, and I spend up to a month on crutches and then its even less exercise.
I also have epilepsy and take pills which dont mix with the gout pills. They also mess with my weight. So yes I understand.
Also Iam slimming to help my joints etc.
Now that I have depressed you all into comfort eating. I can rest feeling slimmer.

:) Hi GG....and the rest of us gang
Howz, it going? Sorry to hear that you have had a bad head.
Think it is more likely change of diet to do with it. :( Think if you can have in between low carb snacks would help. Crispbread with some some salad already made up in the bowl i.e...tomatoes, cucumber, celery, peppers, beetroot (all diced) then a side plate in the fridge of either Tuna/Salmon/Chicken....or cottage cheese  that used to help me. I was starving!!!!! and would eat anything!!....that was available...yes even the icecream in the freezer
I had toast and scrimping of butter and Jam for breakfast....lunch was just a burger with no trimmings :( Dinner was pasta and Tuna....no pudding  loads of black tea during the day. I would kill for anything sweet......remember sugar sandwiches ?  (had a few snacks in between though....crispbread n tomatoes)
Donned my bikini today too...thank god no visitors!!
Going to keep it up though GG...in any case you don't you sound overweight much really. Just take is slowly hey? ;)

One thing I do love in this weather is chocolate magnums. Weight watchers NOW have magnum style lollies, covered in rich belgium chocolate.

Hi everyone,
I have no will power at all I'm afraid, I've never been on a diet but swing from eating loads to almost nothing at all, several months of each. So my weight swings up and down all the time. I have my 'fatter' clothes and 'thinner' ones. I don't chuck clothes out when they don't fit as I know at some time I'll fit back into them again.
I have a bar of Aero sticky toffee in front of me but I'm gonna be strong! Also Green & Blacks chocolate does it for me, in fact all chocolate! I have been known to eat four chocolate bars in a row, I know, horrific! :(
I don't believe in low fat, always go for full fat!
When I'm unhappy I don't eat, when I'm happy I don't stop!
We are going out for dinner today so won't be eating sensibly today!
I'm 34 and know that as you get older it gets harder to shift the weight so will have to be stricter with myself.........soon!
I think I might have to go on a diet as much as I don't believe in them, sensible eating I think works, but I find it so difficult that maybe dieting will make me stick to it.
I think every day about exercising but never actually get round to it, apart from going nutty exercising for a day or two and half killing myself once in a while!
Overall it doesn't look good does it??! :D

19-06-05, 12:57 PM
Jazzb,
I had a collection of those clothes, its being 2 years of saying I will wear them once I,ve slimmed. I got rid of the thin stuff and started a diet.
I eat nearly the same stuff just smaller potions, no eating after 7pm, and hardly any full fat chocolate.
You just need to try the new chocolate stuff for dieting. Try the magnum style lollies, for a start. I love chocolate too, you just have to find the right ones for your taste.
GG.
Hi Goosegirl,
I think you've hit the nail on the head with not eating after 7. That is my worst time, so will have to fill myself with water or something to stop the cravings.
My other half has been known to come down at 5 in the morning, make himself a big sandwich then go back to bed!!! Very bad idea!!!!
 My wardrobe is packed with clothes in, errm, FOUR different sizes  Oh the shame
When I am unhappy/stressed I comfort eat. How I wish I was one of those people who go off food when under pressure. I'd be a size 6  :hihi:
Mr sp doesn't get home from work until after 7pm so we have to eat then. I draw the line at eating separately in the evenings.
I will enjoy my roast tonight and fill up my plate with veg

Hi folks,
Squash Soup Recipe,
Difficulty easy
prep time 10 minutes
cook time 40 minutes
yield 4 servings
6 cups (about 2 large squash) seeded 2-inch wide chunks butternut squash
melted butter, for brushing
1 tablespoon kosher salt,
1 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper,
3 cups of chicken or vegatable stock
4 tablespoons of honey
1 teaspoon minched ginger
4 ounces heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
Preheat oven to 400 deggrees F.
Brush the flesh of the squash with butter and season with 1 tablespoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of freshly ground white pepper. On a sheet pan lay the squash flesh side up. Roast for about 30-35 minutes or until the flesh is soft.
Scoop the flesh from the skin into a pot and add the stock, honey, and ginger. Bring to a simmer and puree using a stick blender. Stir in in the heavy cream and return to a low simmer. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
Enjoy

Hi bikerroc,
Smoking is one of the big things to quit. Its understandable you trying to keep busy eating or drinking. I've never being into smoking, and I happy not to drink alcohol.
When younger I drank my self silly being a teen wanting to join in. I have a drink at family events, mainly to not be a kill joy. Wine is the only one I like the taste of just.
Alcohol messes with my tablets, and my fellas too. So I think why suffer if I dont really want it.
Coka cola, chocolate, and chips thats a different matter.
Smoking was the big issue for you.
Food is the big one for me.
1 day a week you should have a eat any thing, drink any thing day.

What about beef cassorole or something with red wine added to it. You could still drink some later as well.

if you have a whole chicken i would just say simply roast it, but do not add any extra oil there is no need. you could cut a lemon in half and put one half inside the cavity of the chicken and squeeze the other half over the top of the chicken and then sprinkle on some rock salt and a few dried herbs.
if you have a roasting tin with a rack in it, the chicken can sit on the rack and the fat will drip through onto the bottom and the chicken wont be sitting in it.
you are not supposed to eat the chicken skin if you are dieting but personally i love it! :D

Hi folks,
Hippychick you made me smile, you remind me of myself talking at that age. Boy are you in for a wake up call. I used to eat any time and any thing.
I used to be 9st all my life untill I hit 39, then I put on a stone. I now weigh 11 stone. This is my third attempt to lose weight.
I would never diet by drinking nothing but those 3 milk shake type things a day diets.
Some people do a lot of exercise to help them slim.
I do a fair amount of walking and gardening. I still eat nearly all the things I ate before, just smaller amounts, and mostly at meal times.
GG.
hi gg
you seem to be doing things the right way and the slim fast drinks are no good yes you lose weight but when you start eating normally again you put most of it back on
another option i forgot to mention is to invest in a smoothie maker fill it up with any fruit you like and ice cubes or low fat yoghurt and let it do its magic
its a great way of getting your five portions of fruit a day and its very filling good for curing hunger pangs
my fave one is melon strawberry and banana i use banana yoghurt for that one its just like a milkhake but with attitude :)
hc
its around the age of 39 dear you see everything is pulled by gravity and starts to go south
oh god this sounds like another flippin musical
and what doesnt go south gets rounder and plumper by the day
have another shortcake you can have one for me as well

I WILL be thin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Hellybelly
What about Irn Bru & Glenmorangie, they must be good for you as well, they must, they must.
With er indoors scientific calculations I have 6 years to go before my waist is due south so I can have five years of cakes that's 1825 cakes in total if I eat one per day and then I'll have a year of weaning me off them so I'll be fine, right???

Mr.sp would def. agree about the Glenmorangie  ;)
Sorry to disillusion you, hippychic, but the cake thing won't work.I tried it with chocolate so I should know
I have done 45 mins on my exercise bike this afternoon, which considering how flipping hot it is 'dahn south' is amazing. I had a million things I would rather have done, including pulling my own teeth out, but I was very good and full of self discipline
Off to chill the wine for tonight  I just can't go without a couple of glasses of chilled white with dinner
:hihi:  I always have a glass of wine when cooking dinner, and some with dinner. It's my stress buster
Mr.sp has his daily whisky too [for medicinal purposes apparently ;) ] That's his stress buster. Works a treat
