Hi All

Just wanted to pick your brains....

Middle little JJ ( she is nearly 8) has recently ( two months) taken to wandering the house in the night for no reason. We guide her back to bed and in the morning she has no recollection of this.........we are assuming that she is sleepwalking

Things are quiet with next door and she seems as happy as ever???

Any suggestions to how I can deal with it????????????????

thanks JJ

Hi JJ,

I,ve read that it effects 6-12 year olds mostly, and a lot of kids have at least one sleep walking event. Also most of them grow out of it, and they dont know why kids sleep walk in most cases.

You should make sure the floors are clear of stuff she may trip over, and keep dangerous items out of the way incase she brushes against them cutting herself. Also lock your outside doors, and move the keys.

I watched a tv program about sleep walking too. I have memories of a girl I knew when young who used to sleep walk. Some parents have a password to use too, to check if they are awake when talking to them.

You should speak to your doctor too just to rule out anything else.

GG.

Hi JJ,
GG has given good advice.
I don't know much about this subject but keeping doors locked I know from childhood is the main one (?). I had a friend who slept walked and I remember her parents locking doors as she would go outside.
Keeping floors clear too.
I really don't know what the procedure is. Like GG says, check with your GP?
Good luck and I hope young JJ is ok.
