Hi everyone,

I watch Monkey World when its on, and its upsetting to see the effects of the trauma suffered by the monkeys. This year I might actually visit the place, as any one being?

Hello GG,

Yes, I have watched it. Discovery Animal Planet showed the 7th series (filmed last year) in Feb, then worked their way through the other series, so I think I've seen them all.

They are worth watching more than once.

I am also hoping to visit this year. I don't think one visit will be enough.

Jim & Alison cronin :notworthy: and their staff, have done, and continue to do, a fantastic job.

Their website is good.

You should also check National Geographic for Chimp Diaries, which follows the" Mona Foundations" work. Think of it as a spanish Monkey World. Only six parts though, which is a shame.

It was made by the same production company as Monkey Business, so hopefully there will be further series.

It was setup by a Olga Feliu, a Barcelona vet, in 2000. Bongo reminds me of Seamus, aka "The Hairy Hooligan".

Wait till you see Juanito. :jump:

We love the show and visited the park in Setember last year. We sponsor one of the baby chimps called Lulu. The park is a great day out and good value for money. It's really touching to see how much care goes into looking after the monkeys and apes. It also breaks your heart when you hear about their apalling lives before they were rescued.

If you can make - definately pay a visit - it's great!!

Hi there,

DG do you get to touch the baby chimps with the keepers at all? Lulu is a real sweetie to watch on tv. I love poor old Charlie, he suffered so much as a beach chimp.

Hi to Lofty13,

I have seen some of the other ones on tv.

Hi GG,

No you don't get to touch any of the chimps. The park wants to make their lives as stress free and natural as possible. You can buy cuddly toy chimps in the gift shop...or I could lend you Mr DG for a cuddle as he is quite hairy and enjoys being stroked!!!!!

Hi, GG & DG,

The park also does'nt want to risk the chimps catching anything from members of the public, as chimps can suffer a lot of the same illnesses as us.

It's difficult not to like Charlie, bless him. It was a shame Rodney passed away last year, due to a heart attack.

I don't sponsor any of the chimps, but a work colleague who also likes the show, and I, have sent "goody boxes" of vitamins.

They are also running varios campaigns, and ask for members of the public to write letters to the appropriate people, such as CITES, and the relevant embassies. I have done this also.

The information is on their website, in the ape rescue chronicles, I think.
