View Full Version : Most Haunted
Is anyone else a fan of Most Haunted? I love it, and tonight there is a new episode on. Tonight it is in Bodmin Gaol in Cornwall. I have been waiting for this one, as we visited Bodmin Gaol ourselves about 3 years ago. I love historical buildings and never pass up the opportunity to visit a castle, old house, etc etc. Of all the old places I have ever visited, Bodmin Gaol stands out as making me have a very strange feeling the whole time we were there. As soon as we walked in, there was an overwhelming sense of sadness, and oppression. The feeling seemed to be seeping from every brick. Most peculiar!! If it could talk it would be able to tell many a sad story I believe. Even the mega sceptical mr.sp could sense it. If they don't find something tonight, I'm not watching it any more!
[I won't be watching it in the dark that's for sure!! :hihi: ]
at least with the pre recorded ones they can bleep out the swearing! :D not good for the little ones on live nights ;) or the violence for that matter!! :D
I love the programme, but last year missed one of the live shows in Stratford On Avon.I was in bed fast asleep when our 21 year old son woke us up to, erm, 'remind us' it was on, and why didn't we go downstairs and watch it with him!!! :hihi:  It was the show where the spoon hurled itself across the room towards Yvette!!! He had just seen it, it freaked him out a bit and he didn't want to watch the rest alone. Of course, he would say he just thought we'd like to go downstairs and see it, but we know differently ;) He didn't watch the rest of it ;)
I love it :D
The live one at Pendle Hill had me freaking out, I think it's a spooky sort of place anyway  and I think that whether you believe in the programme or not, it can be great entertainment - and quite good for learning history too :)
Mind you, I'd love to see Derek say just once "there's naff all in here Evey" (to Yvette) :hihi:
He was very close to it on one of the last live locations. he just stood shrugging saying I' I can't get anything here'
Pendle Hill was easily the scariest so far though.
I just love it. The show from Mary King's Close in Edinburgh was an eyeopener for me. I'd went with hubby and son and kept feeling sick and dizzy in a couple of rooms, usually the same room where jr grabbed my hand telling me he was scared, but didn't know what of :o
I watched the show after that and freaked when they all felt the same things in the same room.
looking forward to tonight :D

Awww, never seen this programme (only have terrestrial TV :( ). It sounds brilliant. Sorry to sound naive, but is this programme 'real' or is it a load of actors doing stunts with members of the public?
I was really pleased to hear they felt the atmosphere change to one of sadness as soon as they walked through the gates. That was exactly how I felt - you could pick up the overwhelming feeling of sadness and despair as soon as you entered the place. I believe that buildings can 'soak up' for want of a better term, the feelings of people in a building, especially if it was overwhelmingly sad. Walking round the place on a quiet, rainy, dull day admittedly would have added to the atmosphere, but I was careful not to get left behind and separated from our party!! :hihi:  The dummies looking out of the windows were creepy too! I wouldn't look at them in cae I saw one move!!
mr ribbit, it is a great programme, and apparently has a huge following.Yvette Fielding and a team of phsycic mediums, historians etc go to different locations and the psychics pick up any paranormal activity. This is then checked by the historians. They also conduct a seance which can be a bit alarming sometimes! Every so often they do a 3 night live show. This is when the spoon hurled itself across the room in Stratford! I was so disappointed I missed it!! It is not acted and so you sit there [me hiding behind a cushion] and wait for something to happen. I think you'd like it given your own ghostly activities [or maybe not   ] :hihi:
I was wrong about the swearing last night! they didnt bleep it!! :o

Interesting idea for a programme. Wish we could see it. :( Ah well, one day I suppose. ;)
They have a website Mr R, here (http://www.livingtv.co.uk/mosthaunted) :) you need to register to view the site, but it's quite interesting

No! Blue Peter! Blimey, things have changed in childrens TV since I was a kid.  What did the other presenters look like.
Beth, I think the bleep machine must have blown up through over use last night.
mr. r - each series is available to buy on DVD/video. I was bought one the Xmas before last and haven't seen it since!! Everyone wanted to borrow it. :(
The medium, Derek Acorah, has an unusual habit of becoming possessed by the spirits of the long dead they are seeking out. On one live show he was unable to continue for quite a long time as he became quite unwell.
Sleep well everyone................witches cackle to be inserted here!!!!

Mr Ribbit, do you have Freeview digital where you live? You can watch the show on FTN, for free.
Derek Acorah has been described to me as a "genuine chap."
I was somewhat suprised to be told: "That's interesting. There's a man dressed in high priest's robes standing just behind Derek. I wonder if he'll spot him?"
At that moment, Derek leapt round, said: "I beg your pardon! There's a man here, dressed in monk's robes. Oh! Sorry! He isn't a monk, he's a high priest." :)
So, some people can see spirits through the medium of television. (No pun intended.)
OOooherr, NB
I have also heard Derek Acorah is genuine. Fascinating programme - apparently Derek Acorah is not told where the location is to be so he cannot do any 'research'. He always comes up with names, dates and facts that check out with the historians even so. :o
I like Derek Acorah - if I remember rightly a few years ago he had some sort of medium style programme with an audience at about 2.30pm every day (I think it was on Sky) similar sort of thing to John Edward's show :)
He was excellent on the programme
and he used to play football for Liverpool! :D

NB _ Check out my Fatty Arbuckle in disgrace thread here (http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=9399&hl=) he is NOT a poor dog, he is a very naughty, spoiled dog!!!! He's not cowardly through being mistreated...he's just a pampered pooch who wouldn't bark at his own shadow.
My hubby is developing as a medium at the moment. Its something we are all supposed to be able to do a bit but have forgotten how
Some people are more able to than others and they become mediums.
Hubby has always had really weird dreams that he remembers vividly like words of ssongs he's never heard, or people telling him things. He's also had some strange experiences at night, like feeling he was being spun round the room, he was awake for that one   Scared the proverbial out of him  .
He went to a spiritualist church and they sensed he had the gift and asked him along to develop it. I hate going to spooky places with him now though :o

we've got one arranged for somewhere in wales next month which hopefully we'll get the numbers up to attend which i'm really looking forward to.

wow rb that's fascinating, I'm developing too. and yes everyone has the ability.
I actually have a spiritual website where i do online development classes and things as well as the ghost investigation stuff and it's amazing the amount of people who are interested in that kind of thing. David Wells has even been to visit and given the members some really useful hints and tips which is great, he's such a great person as well as being a brilliant medium.
I'd rather be in a spooky place with a medium than with someone who's not mind you, then they can tell you if anyone spooky is "hanging around" hehe.
in answer to another post i read, it's kinda weird how some folk find out they have "the gift" (for want of a better phrase) in my case my gran visited me in my dreams, as well as me seeing her sitting in the chair watching me. Eventually i got a message through another medium friend of mine that made it perfectly clear that i should be developing the gift i have. I've always been able to see spirits but didn't decide to do anything about it until then which was about 10 years ago now. Since then i've not looked back and have had some absolutely amazing experiences and I love what I do

:wow: Fascinating stuff. I have been to see a wonderful medium a couple of times in the last 2 years, and what she had to tell me 'blew my mind' and left me in no doubt at all, that life continues after death. She could never, in a million years been able to tell me the things she did if she was not genuine. I was scared about going originally, but not now. Actually, it took me 20 years to pluck up the courage to go  but I am so glad I did. Awesome.

ooooh no missus!!!!
The thought of dead people talking to me gives me the heebie jeebies!!! I do find it interesting and love to hear an old yarn of a ghost story, but I am way too cowardly to investigate!!
By the way, is it me or is Derek haveing a harder time controlling the spirits than he used to? He seems to be getting "pocessed" more often than he did in past years.

We could form a nfh investigative society and camp out at each other's house with sarnies and thermos's of tea while observing the unnatural activites of the various and very scary nfh.
He's behind you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oooh, yes, dg. Don't forget your night vision glasses too. Then we will write a book about N'sfh and become very rich and be able to move to a detached house, and definitely no shared driveways

lol great idea not sure it would stand up in court mind you but great idea none the less lol.
yeah i agree he's having a much harder time controlling things than before and I personally think it's because he's making a mint out of mh and mh merchandise, the spirit realm I've found anyway, have rules about making profit from them.
basically I do rune readings and I do charge to do them but I had to ask permission from my spirit guides to do that because of the amount of actual work involved as I only do them by email, however for spirit readings I don;t charge but ask for a donation instead if the person i'm reading for can afford it, i also do free readings on my site, which they are much more ok about. Thing is it's not my main job, i basically don't have a main job lol so I'm not dependant on earnings from readings.
I also think cos he's putting himself in so many negative energy situations it's taking more and more energy to control things. Altho in my personal opinion not all of the posessions are truly real, he's a showman at heart and whilst i believe about 95% of his information is accurate I do kind of sit and think hang on a mo sometimes lol. The key to seeing if it's a real posession or not is in his eyes, the pupils will be dilated and look very very odd which isn't always the case (look more closely next time he is posessed lol and you'll hopefully see what i mean) When we did the investigation at the ram inn one of our team was taken over and 3 independant witnesses saw a highwayman float across the room afterwards and that is the single most scary experience i've ever had but that's another story for another thread i guess lol.
david Wells is brilliant too, he's such a lovely bloke as well, i emailed him not long back asking if he had the time to give some advice to the developing psychics and mediums on my site and he said ok but what he wanted them to do is to ask the questions most important to them that way he could get a better understanding of what they wanted to know rather than what he felt might be important and would possibly mean nothing to my site members. We spoke via email quite a few times and he's a lovely genuine bloke with no airs and graces about being on telly, really down to earth and so willing to help people who are developing.
anyway i'm probably waffling now as I am prone to do lol so i'll shurrup for a while hehehe

Wow ally, that's amazing :wow:
Did you see the highwayman?
I've had experiences, but not actually 'seen' anything. Most of my experiences were when I was a nurse. Hospitals are full of weird happenings - especially on night duty........omg just remembering sends a shiver down my spine

yep i've heard a lot of stories from friends who work in hospitals and some very strange experiences.

I am sooooooooo peeved at my kids LOL
I had set the video to record a couple of programmes last night, the video is in my bedroom as I can't get the one downstairs tuned into sky for some strange reason, anyway I was happily watching the tape when i went to bed and half way through dead like me it stopped, odd i thought so fast forwarded it a little to make sureit wasn't the tape being faulty but oooohhhh nooooo my darling 6 year old had decided she wanted to watch the sound of bloomin music on the video in my room at half 9 last night without telling me :badmood:
I had MH on in the background on livingtv+1 but I was busy doing a class on my site last night so couldn't really pay attention but did catch a little of what happened to yvette, so I'm going to have to watch it when it's repeated on Sunday now ggggrrrr
aren't kids wonderful LOL

I know I'm not really into clairvoyance and all that. But I was wondering, if those of you who are (and I fully respect your beliefs) do you feel that what the MH team and especially Derek do is actually safe? Can contacting entities/spirits or whatever you want to call them actually stir up trouble? Could spirits be "offended" (if that's the right word) by what the team is trying to do?
I mean if you believe that these spirits are dead people, then you have to reason that there are a lot of really nasty people about so some dead people must be really horrible. I jsut wonder that, while it is entertaining to watch, could they be actually doing something very dangerous? I admit I am pretty ignorant about these things and wondered what others thought. I have watched the show and se that Derek seems to be loosing control a bit and I worry about the psychological effects may result from participating in all this. I know I'd be scared witless!
Also is contacting the spirit realm a bit like chatting in online forums. We've all read stories of how someone you meet online can appear to be friendly and nice etc and after a while your defences drop and you reveal more and more about yourself without really knowing who you are talking too. For those of you who are expereinced, can you tell me if spirits can lie/be deceptive? Or are they somehow forced to show their true colours (good or bad) at all times?
I also have another question - are all spirits walking the earth or are there spirits elsewhere? I mean, obviously Derek believes in the afterlife, but does he go along with the traditional "Heaven and Hell as possible destinations when we die" way of thinking? What does he, and those who also pratice clairvoyance, think happens to you when you die?
I hope you don't mind me asking - I'm just curious!
Domestic Goddess

I just want to repeat that I'm not judging anyone's beliefs. I am always curious to hear about other peoples' viewpoints. I mean, I do what works for me, but fully respect that others may see things entirely differently. Different strokes for different folks etc
I do find Most Haunted interesting and entertaining, but just wouldn't feel right/happy participating. However, this could all be purely because I am ignorant about it. There's also the fact that I am a complete coward!!!!!!!
Interesting questions, DG. Perhaps alyssia may be able to enlighten us on some aspects.
Speaking purely from my own experiences with a medium, it was overwhelmingly comforting. I was terrified of going [it took me 20 years to pluck up the courage  ] but I so badly wanted some proof that 'life after death' existed. I went to her with the view that I was not going to give any clues away or read into it things that could be applicable to anyone, and I just wanted it to be meant for me - if you know what I mean. I just wanted the comfort of knowing that my brother, Mum, Dad, several friends and other relatives still knew what was going on in our lives. I knew I would cry, whatever happened, but when I did, it was tears of joy. The medium had only wanted my first name and insisted I told her absolutely nothing about myself. I came out of there floating on air. She told me too much to repeat here, but the things she did tell me were things that nobody could have known, even down to a birth mark my eldest son had - she pointed to the EXACT place he has it, and that he was having it removed. How could a total stranger possibly know that? She then correctly named this son, my hubby, a friend and my father. Some of the things I did not understand at the time, but as soon as I spoke to my brother and sisters it had been something that was going on in their lives at that particular time. She correctly described the outfit, including the exact colour that my sister had worn to her sons wedding a few months earlier. She then went on to say, that 'they' had been at the wedding too and that is how they knew. She correctly described the personality of my brothers wife, which I won't go into, and much, much more. It was truly amazing, and a life changing experience for me, for the better
That said, MH are not contacting their own 'dear departed' relations and, as you righlty say, could be contacted by a bad spirit. I hope someone else knows the answers to how this happens etc.

NFH haunt the living. I wonder if the negative energies they release will haunt people of the future?
Seriously,NB, I think buildings can absorb negative energy giving it a feel of unhappiness in the future.
