Due to arriving home late, our Cockatiel must have panicked in the dark, and banged his beak.
He seems OK in himself, though he has a spot of blood on his beak.
Any ideas? Mrs N. is beside herself with worry.
Any ideas?

Was he left out to fly about while you were out. He may be slightly dazed. The only thing to do is settle him in his normal sleeping area. Make sure you cover his cage though, it calms birds that have had a shock. Also make sure he is left to recover in total peace until the next day.

ditto GG, they are very resilient and as long as his beak isnt damaged theres no need to be overly concerned i wouldnt have thought ;)

He was in his cage (a large, rectangular one) so probably fell off his perch in a panic, in the dark, poor thing.
Has settled down, re-comenced removing lose feathers (molting! :) ) and has been eating apples and biscuits. And has been giving his hard seed stick a good gonig over, so I think he is OK.
Thanks for your advice. :)

Pets can cause so much worry can't they? It's just as well that the sheer pleasure outweighs the difficult bits.

He sounds fine to me as well. Does his nails need clipping at all, just wondering if he caught his beak scratching.
