View Full Version : Peter Kay/Amarillo
Did anyone see this on Comic Relief? I thought it was the most cheerful thing I have seen in ages - How nice to see everyone looking so smiley and happy in the video!
I hope it's no 1 this Sunday!! :D

:D That song has been stuck in my head since Friday night...its so cheerful and happy like you say!!!
I love Peter Kay!
He was on parkinson on Saturday and they showed the video again, especially that bit where poor old ronnie corbett falls off the treadmill!!! what a good sport he was about it!
I think it is absolutly superb!! I managed to get it out of my head on Saturday morning after watching 45 minutes of kids TV, but I went shopping after that and some other B*gger was whistling it!!! AAAHHHHH. (gonna buy the DVD today though, first time I've bought a single since Cliff Richard and the Young Ones.)
Managed to find it eventually (after asking the assistant). I never knew that they only sold these things under the counter, although it has been driving me bonkers for too long - It might be a good way to get your own back on neighbours, just hum a few bars, and they won't be able to get it out of their head :D
Absolutely brilliant, I love Peter Kay :D
Was out for a meal with friends Saturday night (in an Italian restaurant) and Amarillo was playing (not the Peter Kay version) and all we talked about was the video

:D  just been out and bought mine !!! B) B)
I saw a CD of a whole album of the original artist advertised on TV last night which I am also tempted to get hold of...now what's his name again?
(I am hopeless at remembering singer/song titles!)
I just think everyone on the vid looks so happy and smiley - it's a real tonic!
I love Ken and Deirdre...not used to seeing them happy! :wow:

Hi Mazza,
The singer is Tony Christie, one of my faves. I feel a new topic coming on. :hihi:

I can't stop singing "Sha la la la la la la la! Sha la la la la la la la!"
I'll be buying a copy! I LOVE Peter Kay, he's just so naturally funny! I'd love to have him round for dinner and get a bit tiddly while laughing our socks off.
Hats off to Ronnie Corbett for being such a good sport - the man's a national treasure!
Ah, Tony Christie, of course - I have the memory of a gnat :hihi: !
Thanks bazranz, His stuff sounds so cheerful, just what I need...I think I just might invest in his CD! :D
I agree with all the above! Was also was very pleased to see Geoffrey and Bungle in the video (even though Bungle's scary).
It's impossible not to like Peter Kay, he has the cuuutest most infectious smile, and has anyone else noticed he has a 5-year-old boy's face? :)

"Is this the way to Amarillo?" is the song played before Peter Kaye appears on stage.
Saw him on the "Mum wants a Bungalow" tour - absolutely brilliant live - humour without the rudeness.
Phoenix Nights was brill as well.
The dwarves on the comic relief video also featured in PN ->
- "We're Bolton, we're barmy, we're on the p*ss tonight" (as part of a stag party).
Also, ITTWTA featured in Series 2 (Episode 1) of PN. Max and Paddy were singing along to it in a minibus. The passengers (elderly muslims) did not join in.
Pure class.

I only found out today that Ronnie Corbett really did fall off the treadmill. I thought it was part of the act. Poor Ronnie - at least he doesn't have far to fall :hihi:
Am definitely going to buy Tony Christies album now
Thumbs up to Peter Kay's treatment of this song on video and bringing Tony Christie back into the limelight.
On the CD I like the original mix, not sure of the 'Club' mix. Watch for the infectious 'laughter' track.
Peter Kay's version is class, dead funny too. :hihi:
Yes it is Hazelnut, and stays in your head even longer than the McFly song it knocked off!
