I only caught some of the Eurovision Song Contest qualifiers this evening, but with relief I see that 'Javine' has won (and not the dreadful performance from Jordan! :o )

Javine stormed the voting at this year's Making Your Mind Up competition on the BBC to send her to the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with her stunning song, 'Touch My Fire'.

Javine will now be representing the UK at Eurovision on 21st May 2005 in Kiev, Ukraine. Javine would like to extend her thanks to everyone from across the UK for their support and votes.

When it comes to performing live on stage, Javine is certainly no stranger to the pressures involved. Having spent two years in the coveted role of 'Nala' in the West End production of 'The Lion King' and playing to packed houses every night, her skills were honed to perfection.

Armed with this invaluable experience she auditioned for and shot to fame on the ITV show Popstars: The Rivals. Proving hugely popular with viewers throughout the show's run, Javine made it to the last six girl singers. However, in a nail-biting final, Javine was not selected to be in the group that was to go on to become 'Girls Aloud'.

Let's hope we win this year, haven't won for a few years now, so we're about due?! :D

Well done Javine

We do not want to win Eurovision though - because if it comes to our country, Terry Wogan is not as sarcastic as when it's held abraod - and that's the only reason to watch, Terrys comments :hihi:

I agree. Thank God it wasn't Jordan. How embarrassing would that have been? I think I'd emigrate......

I second that thought - imagine being represented internationally by Jordan!!! Ugh!

I am soooooooooooo looking forward to Eurovision, it's such great fun and yes, Terry Wogan is the god of cynicism! :hihi:

I have to admit that I usually end up buying the Eurovision cd after the even too...

Isn't it a pity that what was once a music event, has now become politicised, eg Baltic states voting for each other, Nordic states the same,...............and Israel - in Europe?

Political bazranz? ;) You mean that the Greeks don't give Cyprus 12 points based on the quality of the song? :hihi:

I liked Javine's ong the best. Jordan looked very uncomfortable in that pink catsuit, her baps were so squashed up, she looked like she was wearing ear muffs!! :hihi:

bazranz you must be joking, no woman would envy that! Think of the back aches, ouch!

I didn't watch but am so pleased Javine won, at least she can really sing live - though methinks Jordan would have more chance of winning.

Good job us girls can stay practical isn't it! I take back what I said before, Jordan probably wouldn't win; only blokes would vote for her and I don't think many men watch Eurovision, or am I wrong and it's just something you lot don't admit to? :)

 Never given that much thought to be honest, although I'd suspect it's an even split, lots of different kinds of song and performers to meet all tastes really. :D But Jordan doesn't attract me with her singing or anything else come to think of it! ;) :D

Strange how it's the girls that end up routing for the Jordans out there! I've never heard her sing, but even if I thought she was awful I'd still say "good for her" :)

By the way we know you boys cry at soppy films, watch talk shows and adore fwuffy lil kittens ;)

have to say I wasnt rooting for her at all, she really did not do a good job at all :( and out of all of them I would have placed her last in the singing stakes.

my favs were the triclore lads, but they wouldnt have gone done well in Europe.

the song that won was very eurovision, a good beat, ethinic strings and drums, a pretty girl (wearing a hanky!) and words that can be sung by anyone.
we may well be in with a winning chance this year and I think we are guarented to get some points at least, anyone remember gemini?

NIL point! :D

LOL Beth, I remember gemini - out of tune, couldn't dance, load of tosh, well deserved null points, nothing to do with us going to war about the same time

I don't care about the singing, I would only ever watch that show if I knew for certain Jordan was going to reveal all    :)

Yea, I agree with Beth - Jordan CAN NOT sing...I was :o when I saw her actually getting good marks :banghead:.

Not anything to do with that grotty pink catsuit thing she had shoe-horned herself into by any chance  :hihi:

Mind you...I'd have loved to see in a couple of months' time how she fitted the thing...verrry interesting! ;)

I prefered Tricolore too :( . But I think that Javine's song is quite clever - ought to appeal to a wide audience with it's middle eastern kind of beat in there. Not my cuppa tea, but hey, it's Eurovision and I'll be rooting for her!!

:D

(She'd best get some industrial strength tape to stick that 'dress' to her chest come the big day though :o  )

Oh.perleeease!! You cannot be serious?!!

If either of my sons brought home someone who modelled herself on Barbie, even if she COULD sing, I swear I'd lose the will to live. :hihi:

You have to hand it to Jordan she knows how to manipulate the press and has made a whole load of money out of it. She is one canny lady. she is in Ok mag this week showing off her belly...i just wish she would get rid of those implants, i reckon she would still be as in demand plus more people would take her seriously.

against all my instincts i actually quite like her  .

Oh, so that's where I went wrong. I didn't use the Hollywood variety.
By the way - I don't wear a toupe - it was for the other reason us girls need it!!! ;)
