i know almost nothing about jazz, but some of the stuff i've heard i really like :)

thats limited to "sweet & lowdown" by woody allen which has plenty of jazz music..... and the only jazz album i have is "gling-glo" which is a collection of the best icelandic jazz performers doing what they do best with bjork doin some vocals for them, its sounds a bit eccentric but it never fails to make me feel better after listening to it :)

could anyone give me some recommendations for good jazz stuff?
I hope to get some more!

I play Jazz myself but, bizzarely, have'nt listened to that much of it- only really recognising that what i was writing was chromatic recently ( yeah! i know - i'm weird! :D ) Van Morrison has produced some of the greatest popular jazz-
astral weeks & moondance being two of his best albums.
i've always liked diverse groups that are often hard to categorise.
Sonic youth are often seen as indie but the'yre best stuff has a strong jazz element as does My Bl**dy valentine.
I am going to start looking for more "classic" jazz ( when i've the cash spare)
i'll let you know if i find anything cool.
oh! - & Portishead are very jazz, they're Dummy album was brilliant!

It is strange how the music that influences you is'nt nessacarily the stuff you come up with yourself.

Hi again!

Got some jazz out from library recently, really good!
I got Phelonious Monk ( guarantee mispelt), Charlie parker & Dhjango Rheinhardt c.d's.
I have heard some monk before & was always impressed- very strong style.
The charlie Parker was " with strings" - really nice chilled out, tunefull stuff.
Dhjango Rheinhardt was a guitarist & i really love his stuff- the best description i can give is - gypsy kooky- nice! B)
I'm going to look into some more- got the bug, so i'll post any good finds.
cheers!
