View Full Version : more email scams
I have just checked my bulk email box and it was full of dodgy emails.
so I thought I would pass them on to you chaps, they all have attachments and no I did not click them!
one states its from the FBI as I have alledgly been on illegal websites...yeah right what ever!
the source of the email is from W32.Sober.K@mm is a mass-mailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to send itself to email addresses gathered from a compromised computer. The email will be in either English or German.
and the email is Officer@fbi.gov
the others say Thanks for your registration!
We have received your payment.
For more detailed information, read the attached text. umm no I havent done either there!
people are so cheeky they try to get you to click anything, so be warned everyone, I dont know what these emails contain or if its one of those click on this and we charge you through your phone bill etc.

the cheeky boogerts, although ... "fbi.gov" .. i always think of ".gov" as a uk domain... but its ".gov.uk " for here isn't it?
thanks for the reminder beth :)
I keep getting the same sort of spam email for viagra sent to my pop3 email, from different addresses so when i block it more comes, i've given up and just delete em now, about one a week.
oh and i got my very first virus a couple of weeks ago, it was quite exciting!!.. Norton spotted it straight away which is good, first time i've seem Norton do anything apart from stopping Autocad from opening :P

these scams are  annoying. I am sick of being offered £millions for letting someone store money in my account, tired of being offered various ways to improve my s*x life, and worst of all, someone using my hotmail address to send viruses. I did stop that one, but these scams get more and more ingenious, and harder to stop. :badmood:
Bonkers Mad!!!

someone using my hotmail address to send viruses
heres a little tip to stop virus' spreading through your contacts
first off create a new contact in your address book, in the space where you add the contacts e-mail address type something like mmm@mmm.mmm. make sure you do this for your web based mail accounts as well as any outlook type programs. now if a virus attempts to send mail from your address you will be alerted by your e-mail program that one of the addresses is incorrect, thus alerting you to the virus unauthorised access and halting the sending of the infected mail.
i do hope that made sense

:( we had that FBI one at work, and our finance boss saw it first and thought the worst until he had a think about it!!!
it is such a waste of our time and energy. :banghead:
I t used to be bad enough when my old boss came in waving the phone bill around, going through everyones personal numbers, I can imagine your boss walking in a nd saying "right, hands up whose been using the firms time to visit porn sites as you have been rumbled by the FBI?!!" :o
have you ever had the ones that say " I really enjoyedf last night, when can we do it again?" ??
A friend of mine who has a very very jealous spouse had several of them and the spose saw and nearly killed my friend! (I mean like actually nearly killed them):o as they really thought he had been playing away :nono:
