Does anyone else like Embrace ?

I love them and am the proud owner of 2 tickets to see them at the Newcastle City Hall on February 23rd.

I heard their new song this morning and really liked it. I like all kinds of music anyway but have wondered if the credible groups/artists had got lost amid all the boybands and scantily-clad barbies!
Should be a good show, enjoy!

Hi Tracee

Yeah their latest single is pretty cool, infact the whole album is great.
"boybands and scantily-clad barbies" wouldn't know the 1st thing about music. I'm into propper music, The Beatles, OASIS, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, U2, Coldplay, Embrace . . . . . i'm sure you get the picture.

I suppose there's a market for everything. I always shock people with my CD collection, a very contradictory mix of the 'proper' and improper!

How about the newer 'credible' artists like Franz Ferdinand and Keane, do they hold a candle to the legends you're used to?

Ferdinand and Keane . . . . . 2 great footballers, pity they play for Man Utd, (Newcastle United fan here).

Yeah Keane are great, i've got the album "Hopes and Fears" and infact i have got it on now, "We Might As Well Be Strangers" is belting out as i type this out.

Franz Ferdinand . . . . . sorry don't cut the mustard. :P

PS
I note that "PROPER" has just the one "P" . . . thanX

Sorry I wasn't picking out your typo! That was in quotation marks because well, who decides what 'proper' music is and what isn't?!

I think I've fallen in love with Tom from Keane, forget the other two just let the boy sing a cappella hehe. I am a big fan of the guitar though so was a little surprised at just how bl--dy good they are without one!

I think Bedshaped, Your Eyes Open and Sunshine are my faves from the album. Not heard FF's so can't comment on them :)

Oh yes Sunshine is a great song, these words i love

"I hold you in cupped hands
And shield you from a storm
Where only some dumb idiot
Would let you go "

Dumb idiot eh, i've yet to meet a clever one. lol

Hehe good point!

I dare say a lot of their lyrics resonate with many people.

She Has No Time is gutting, I bet he can sing with that agonising 'i'm in so much pain' voice even when he isn't feeling it but it gets me every time anyway! :) Reminds me of Kristian Leontiou, whose album I adore even though his lyrics need some work to sound right from the heart.

It's very important to me that I believe what the vocalist is saying for it to be a good song! A very Tracee thing!

#Morning comes and you don't want to know me any more#

I'm the same Tracee, one reason why i listen to a lot of Bob Dylan and John Lennon music, surely two of the greatest songwriters of all time.

Legends I agree.
We have this ritual at work, after certain songs we all have to state whether we believed em or not! If you know the Richard Marx song 'Hazard' you'll know what I mean. Did he kill her or didn't he? :)
We often argue with poor songsters and songstresses too, they are so very mistaken a lot of the time :D

Sorry but the Richard Marx song 'Hazard' is a new one on me, maybe before my time eh! lol

Tell you what, there is a really beautiful song just started playing on my hi-fi, Katie Melua "The closest thing to crazy", i can feel my eyes filling up . . . . . soft tart that i am. lol

I'm 20 it's before my time too ;)
I like that one too, don't know many people that don't, she's hit it right on the head hasn't she! But I wouldn't buy her album.
REM on mine now, 'At My Most Beautiful'.

I am going to need some seriously cheesy 80s disco stuff to sort out all this melancholy(erm)ness.

REM = Legends, just love "What's the frequency Kenneth".

I just stuck on Contraband by Velvet Revolver, it's class . . . . . Slash is awesome.

:hihi: :hihi: Not quite... No, to be honest, it's not too bad, a little too heavy for my liking....he loves Pearl jam and Queen as do I... but at the other end of the scale is MotleyCrue and Megadeath............mmmm..... I , just for the record wont allow him to play these when I am in the house.......and he is resricted to level 2 on the volume button........( nfh!!!! old habits die hard eh?)

JustJo you have him trained well!!

Just been introduced to The Mars Volta, how have I missed em all this time? Not my usual sort of thing (she says as if she has a favourite sort when I listen to everything:)) but I may have to invest in the new album when it comes out. Check em out if you haven't already, -P-
