Andrea Levy has just won the Whitbread prize for the second time with the above book.
Has anyone out there read it at all...and what did you think of it? :)

Seriously though, the books you have mentioned are so cheap in ASDA, Amazon cant do better!
I will have to keep an eye out when I go in there from now on! :thumbs:

:thumbs: Hi holly, i bought this in waterstones t'other day, they were doing 3 for 2, which works out good...i got this one plus 'toast' by nigel slater and the latest alexander mccall 'in the company of cheerful ladies'...
however, asda still has the best bargain!

I have just finished this book and I loved it. :thumbs:
It got a little confusing at times between the different characters in the book, but I thought that the social/historical elements of the book were fantastic. :thumbs:
I just kept thinking that it was such a shame that there were Mr Todd's in this world then - and that they have multiplied. :sad:
A cracking read for those who love a story with a history & love element. :D
