WAKING UP TO BLUE MONDAY
Feeling especially miserable this morning?
Well, there could be a good reason for that.
Today is the most depressing day of the year, according to a scientist.
Psychologist Dr Cliff Arnalls has come up with a formula pinpointing Monday, January 24 as the gloomiest day of all.
The Cardiff University expert weighed up the influence of a number of January-specific phenomena that ruin our mood.
He blamed miserable weather, mounting debt, the length of time since Christmas and failed New Year's resolutions for the depressing day.

I suppose the good side is that things can only get better from today onwards.
I wonder who funds boffins to make pointless studies like this one?!
I can see why they've come up with that too - it's also pay day tomorrow  at the minute it is snowing here  but I've taken the dogs out and we all got wet :( , and my mother in law has phoned threatening to visit :o :(
well good morning to you lot too! :D
just because you are told its going to be a bad day doesnt mean you have to let it be ;)
always look on the brighside of life

:) I do agree that this time of year is so dreary...I still have a whole week until I get paid, and it seems like forever, because I last got paid on 22 December... :(
I think February is very dull as well, have always thought people should get that whole month off just to stay at home and chill..

Hi folks,
I agree with Beth on this one, I refuse to let this time of year etc to dampen my spirts. My fella has a bit of money coming his way :) , I will lose some weight and keep it off . And its like Starsky and Hutch round here with foot patrols, car patrols, cctv bikes and cctv vans as well. No damage done to our fence for 2 weeks. I feel good :D .
GG.
I'm not going to let the day get to me either - the M-I-L isn't coming :hihi: So it looks like a good day after all
Does this mean that the 24th is going to be this bad even when, one day it'll be a Friday Payday  ?!? It does happen sometimes, and for some reason they make it all worthwhile. Actually the next time January 24th lands on a Friday it will be 2014!!!!! and there's no guarantee that it'll be a payday. Jeepers that is depressing! :badmood:
Oh 'eck, Mondays are bad enough but this is a double whammy then!! :wow: :hihi:

At least in Scotland we've got Burn's Night on the 25th to look forward to which is a good excuse to have a group of friends round for loads of food and drink. :D Plus there's the added possibility of men in kilts! :flirt:
Unfortunately I'll be away on business but Blackpud is going to a Burns Supper tomorrow night. :drunk:
Yes the days are getting longer
Soon be barbecue time
hehe my brother found this and sent it to me via email.. it's his birthday today!!!!
I hate January in general but so far it hasn't been too bad......... Today is lovely where I am. Sunny and cold....... but went for a walk on the beach this morning and it blew the cobwebs right off!!!!!!!!!!!!

just had a massive arguement with the missus, and have missed the house that we saw at the weekend. So far the researchers are right. :D
I like the winter... the short days, the cold weather, the storms that lash against our windows at night when we're snuggling under the duvet watching Stargate  . I don't like the summer... the days without end, the heat, people everywhere dressed in very silly clothes that everything hangs out of :o , the humidity...
Gimme cold and wet any day... dreary and grey, snowy, sleety, throw in a good downpour for good measure.
Ribbit ( :cold: and lovin' it  )

I've had a lovely day today! :D
There's always an exception to the rule..today was the first day in weeks I've not been tearing my hair out at work and actually had a good day!
Glad to prove em wrong :D

:) :) So, its Tuesday today, so we must be all happy now!!!!
I agree with Ribbit, I do better in the chillier weather than I do in the summer...I would much rather feel a bit parky than be sweaty!
My biggest bugbear in the summer is getting into the car...I dont have aircon in mine, and I hate the heat that whacks you in the face when you open the car door! phewww
I prefer the cooler days to the heat also :) I love the snow, can we have some please
I'm definitely happier today - Mr Eeyore gets paid
mind yerself eeyore - you might get your wish! I hear cold weather is on its way!! :cold:

:badmood: I do like chilly weather, but I dont like snow if I have to go to work...
and I am still mardy because I dont get paid til Monday and I have precisely diddly squat in my bank account so I cant even indulge in any retail therapy :badmood: :badmood:
Plus I have a massive amount of work to do and really should not be on here :o :o
Actually I think today is my bad day, I was OK on Monday!
I too love the winter nights.....lying in bed listening to the wind and rain howling outside knowing me and my family are all warm and snuggled up.
However I have to agree with HN.... Summer is lovely, waking up with the birds tweeting and taking the kids to school in their summer dresses with no coats!!!!!!!!
I love my garden in the summer..... sitting in the shade reading, with a cool drink( white wine!!!) watching my girls in the paddling pool!!!!
roll on June !!!!!!
