This is about to be screened as a BBC2 adaptation - it's the first half of a story by Jonathon Coe, set during the 80s as Thatcher comes to power with a group of kids growing up.
It's dead good (though not as good as What a Carve Up!)
There's a review I wrote here (http://www.legalvillage.co.uk/rottersmain.html)
As well as a review by someone else of the follow-up here (http://www.legalvillage.co.uk/closedcircle.html)
And if you really want to relive the 80s, Mark Steel (he of BBC3 lectures fame) wrote a hilarious book.... And wouldn't you guess, it's reviewed here (http://www.legalvillage.co.uk/cheerfulmain.html)
:D
That should be enough for you to be reliving your childhood for the time being Annabel!
