This is part of some research for an article I'm going to write on the nfh problem, just to help see where to target the article and so on.

I forgot to put on heavy footsteps and door slamming...

If this is your problem could you put it under 'not controlling children' and put in the reply that it's actually footsteps and so on....?

As you haven't included mass bigotry that extends to physical violence, arson and includes ALL the rest plus excessive manical over-revving of car engines (for no purpose - just gets in it, sits there hitting the throttle for half an hour listening to his 'sport' "muffler?????" then gets out, slams the door (all the neighbours cars have about 12 doors by the sound of them when they come home drunk after midnight - oh, and little brats on motor scooters (the motorised toys, not Vespas) and monkey bikes ditto - that's all night - I can't vote.

:lara:

One day I'll decompensate (after nine years of it)

How do I do that? I hit the edit button, but it was just to edit my post rather than the poll...

Hi blackpud :)

Did you hit the edit button to the top right of the poll? That should allow you to do it

I've added this into the poll for you. :)

Good luck with the poll and the article Blackpud.

I picked loud footsteps as our biggest problem but to be honest, laminate flooring is really the root cause (could equally have selected - switching on kettle or chopping veg as we hear all that too!!!!!). We hear everything from the flat upstairs since they ripped out the carpets and laid their "cardboard" floor. When the carpets were there, we hardly heard a thing - now it's hell on earth.

More than happy if you want to use our case as an example in the article - please get in touch if you want any more details as I'd be delighted to help.

to the poll

Hi black pud :D

Good Poll

I've put loud music, but it's also loud music at night...

And inconsiderate parking, loud sex, dismissive of complaints, heavy footsteps and door slamming. Don't know if that helps...

With DIY it was inapropriate late night DIY which caused physical damage to our property.

We sold it with the buyers fully aware of his duff DIY. And they did not care! :) (Lucky for us, really...)

Thanks folks! (and Matthew for amending the poll - the edit button in the top right corner wasn't showing for me... )

I'm actually planning a companion piece for this as well, something with a legal slant to send to the Journal of the Law Society of Scotland - nfh carpet bombing!

I would add:

*Thinking that the law doesn't apply to them and what they say MUST be correct simply because they've said it.

*Seeming to enjoy confrontation and causing misery.

*Noting new things neighbours buy and the age and value of their cars, homes and possesions. Then being vindictive if left feeling inadequate.

*General f*ckwittage and d*ckheadedness!

*Breathing!

Hiya!

I put loud music/tv late at night, but it's also loud sex and the fact that demonboy's 'natural' volume for speaking seems to be twice that of everyone else's. Never mind when he's on a mobile phone! (shouting won't make them hear you any better, dear, they're still to far away! ;) )

Bonkers Mad!!!

 applies to 80% of the population where i live

*Breathing! yep, thats the one  i just wish she wouldnt do that

And the fact that their half a braincell seems hellbent on causing as much trouble and mischeif as they can possibly manage in one lifetime.

Oh joy!

Domestic goddess i completely agree with you, these people think that they are above the law, i picked mental intimidation, they've tried to do it with me but the worse thing is they've succeeded with my son, i see it as harrasment but no-one wants to help me, just them. :(

I picked mental intimidation... because everything they do is meant to intimidate us, regardless of whether it's slamming doors, staring, following us around, etc. I could also add:

Breaking into our home
Theft
Damage to property
Trying to kill our plants
Parking on our land
Reporting us to all and sundry
Driving at us at speed
Kicking our tools when we're gardening
Turning their TV up loud deliberately
Throwing vegetables all over our land
Accusing us of trying to assault/kill them

NFH like to have their fingers in all the pies.

None of the above, we are blessed with lovely neighbours.

there should have been other choices on there.

i chose the loud footsteps and door slamming.

but anything from my NFH is considered noise(not all). i would have lumped up the noise choices.

its all good tho.

I could have chosen eleven, but since I have moved to the countryside - nil, except the birds tweeting, heaven :D

Yes, I've noticed this with one of my neighbours also. Well, when walking down the street, passing any teenagers, they all seem to be like that - walking within 1 foot of each other, seemingly shouting-talk. I'm like "stfu! Who are you talking to?!"

The sheer intimidation of having them close by is enough.

I'm just glad we moved away from them
