hiya
i have a massive vinyl collection of 12 inch and albums and singles i started collecting them in 1978 when i was 5 years old and i remember them all because i kept hold of them all and i always rotate the playing of them eventually ,
So that keeps the memory alive!!me, and yes im not terribly old but i remember freshly!! and my mum were the only ones at that time in our musical family that liked the "popular" genre as all my other siblings played traditional instruments and my dad is a composer and a multi instrument player and i did not apprieciate that i like "computer music" as i used to call it as a very young kid
i guess flutes turn me off!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah isnt that vangellis rec ord a lovely little peice?
i like save a prayer it sounds good to me and millions of others!! and i love bette davis eyes i have an extended version of that and it blows me away with the instrumenta;l drum part.
i guess it all comes down to taste!
music will Always be timeless in one's own head!!
and it will always sound the same to your ears as it did when you first heard it and....sorry im ranting now haha!!....and the years pass by but why should your taste and vision be margionalised by youth culture of today? i spelt that long word wronghaha!
it was cool when you were young and i hold on to that!.
i like blake seven and those who don't know it mock it as it isnt looking like todays "effects" you cant really compare it to today, it was not made today it was made then and thats what they could do so there!hahahahah!
i sound like a nut.
ooh, this is so hard...I can't think of Ten albums, but I'd have to have something like...ummmm ...:
The Smiths : 'A Hatful of Hollow' and 'The Queen is Dead'
Pink Floyd: 'Dark Side of the Moon'
U2...um War or October or The Joshua Tree...or all three!!
The Cure : 'Disintegration' (luv it  )
The Mighty Lemon Drops : 'Happy Head'
Billy Bragg: 'Don't Try This at Home'
The Wedding Present: 'Bizarro' or 'George Best'
Ooh, I'll have to go see what I have forgotten now!!
Karen!!!
Blake 7 was soooooooo cool...I used to have a crush on 'Avon'..he he
Oh Mazza, how could I not include a Smiths album in my list :( you've reminded me to dig some out now :)
JJ, I loved Duran Duran, I went on holiday to the USA in 1984 (I was 11) and came back with Rio and their self titled first album  Save a Prayer always makes me have a little sob, reminds me of the old jukebox at our local ice rink and going there on a Saturday to skate and check out the "talent" :hihi:
Yes eeyore, how could you forget the Smiths?! :o :nono:
(Eeyore is hanging her head in shame) (and now listening to "The Queen is Dead" by erm, The Smiths)
Blimey! I'm not telling you mine, as I am obviously positively prehistoric!!!! :(
My favourites would be mostly from the 70's....

Good selection sp  .
We recently bought The Jazz Singer (Neil Diamond) which is an old favourite of ours. The Stones - brilliant, and Abba - classic 'pop' music. Used to listen to a lot of Motown as well but haven't for years now, gotta dig some of that out of my old collection.
I Love Neil Diamond!!!
The Jazz Singer is excellent. I Love his album, Jonothan Livingsone Seagull!!!!!
My dad loves him and went to the NEC to see him in 1991/2???

Right -here goes
I'm never very good at lists as I change my mind several times an hour, but having just purchased a new portable listening device, have been revisiting my CD collection.
So in no particular order, todays list is:

Beatles
Beach Boys (Pet Sounds)
The Strokes
Franz Ferdinand
Radiohead
early Human League

Amy Winehouse nearly made it, but I've played it so much I'm bored with it at present.
There are many other things I love - punk, northern soul, Femi Kuti, John Coltrane, Aretha Franklin, most 80s electro pop, Smiths, Kylie (!) lots of obscure little bands, Pink Floyd, Blondie, Brit pop, african beats, some jazz, kitch 60s easy listening stuff, etc etc and etc as well.
I reserve the right to change my mind on all of the above by tomorrow.

:D Has anyone mentioned the most wonderful and peerless Van Morrison? He is fantastic!
I love the Smiths as well, but my favourite album ever is:
Signing Off by UB40
I also love love love 'London Calling' by the Clash, Snap by The Jam and 'Never Mind the b*****ks' (i hope that bleeps out!) by the Sex Pistols
those albums say it all for me, growing up in 'Thatcher's Britain'....Music nowadays just doesnt have that kind of message anymore....
I would also like to confess that I really enjoy listening to Justin Timberlake's album as well!

Yes I'd forgotten just how much I liked Ultravox till I listened to some of their singles again. Dancing with Tears In My Eyes is one of my faves, but mainly because the video for it really stuck in my head - Midge Ure trying to reach his family after a nuclear attack or some such thing.
Vienna reminds me of my first serious bf - he looked quite like Midge Ure, and it was no 1 when I met him. Ahh happy days!
