It really does get loads of fat out of burgers and sauasges, etc.
And it grills them to perfection.
YUM! :D
Often wondered about them :)
our kitchen is too small really for loads of gadets, when I get my bigger house with massive kitch, I will have loads of gadets all lined up across the kitchen counter! :D

Interesting, so they really do what the adverts claim! Thanks NB. :)

Sounds good Neighboured.
I wonder if they're any good at making panini's? :eatin:
My mum uses hers for paninis, and they are scrummy. :chef:
I'm thinking of getting one now :D

Thanks for that! Have been thinking of getting one to help shift the tractor tyre I appear to have gained around my middle over Christmas!
Sold on the idea now!
Looks as though it does what it says on the tin/box ;)

We have one too, and they are easy to clean as well. You can get larger versions also.
GG.
I've been thinking of getting one :D
Great to know they actually work

We've got the big one and use it all the time. It's great in summer outdoors instead of a barbeque - no more burnt burgers!!! All the fat runs off into small trays and it's a bit scary to see how much you would have otherwise eaten!
The one thing I would say about it is that it produces a lot lot of strong cooking smells - you always need to open a window on switch on your extractor fan. Apart from that - it's fab!

Over Christmas Mrs Enterian talked about getting one of those "George Formby Grills"
She couldn't understand why I laughed so much I nearly wet myself!
Presumably it has a timer that when the food's cooked says "Turned out nice again!"

 :hihi:
Ahhh, bless. Does that mean we would have to use it while we're 'leaning on a lamp post on the corner of the street' or 'when I'm cleaning winda's'. ;)
Oooh, I feel like watching a George Formby film now.

We've been thinking about one of these for the FF household, though I'm worried about forgetting to put the tray thingy underneath it and having fat run all over my worktop and floor.
Which version would you reccomend?

That's a funny one mister and no mistake!
:wow: Stoppit you guys!! :hihi:
I have no space for one either, but I know a couple of people who think they are brilliant. :)
I like the sound of them too but I know I'd def forget to put the drip tray under...just imagine!! ...gross!! ooeerr!!
I would also worry about the drip tray over flowing/dripping/leaking
 I find grease truly revolting for some reason, maybe its coz I am a non meat eater?
but especailly grease/fat that has congealed to a white mass..yucky!

:) :D :)
I dont have the George Forman grill, but I do have Tefal's version, which I think is excellent because you can remove the grill plates and put them in the dishwasher...also the drip tray goes right underneath the grill plates and is a total doddle to clean because you have to fill it a quarter full with water, so any fat mingles in with it then you fling it down the sink, then the drip tray goes in the dishwasher as well.
I bought mine from QVC for about £50 a couple of years ago now but I think they are cheaper now.
I dont have much space for gadgets either but I do use this one a heck of a lot. B)

bleugh i cant stand that either! i used my grill to death. literally! and other things got in the way of me replacing it >.< gonna have to think about one soon tho as i miss it so much!
the one i had was a take the plates off and throw in the dishwasher one, so no yukky meat oiled dishes hanging around after tea which was a huge bonus.
i loved big open cup mushrooms done in the grill, brushed with chilli olive oil, my mouth is drooling just thinking about it now! stuffed into a pitta with salad and onion relish. man i'm hungry now! lol
aubergine slices, courgettes and onion wedges were really nice done in there too :)
the tray is plenty big enough to cook one 'load', my grill was the anthony worrell thompson one and the tray actually slotted under the machine and came out like a little drawer - no way it could get knocked and was visible so couldn't be forgotten either. i'll definately buy another one of that type. i literally used mine so much that it broke!

Noooo! Don't do that!!!!!!!! :o
Eventually all the fat will congeal and totally block up your sink trap!!! Or worse, block further down so you have the whole thing stinking and, oh, yuk!!!! :sicky:
It could need a professional drain cleaner if it gets too bad!
Try putting some soda crstals down as soon as you can. That should sort it. :)

 I never throw fat down the sink without putting copious amounts of washing up liquid and soap powder down after it, with loads of hot water to flush it all through....
I had to clean out my drain a couple of months ago as it got blocked...and guess what was blocking it....HAIR!!! 8-X 8-X To say it was grim is an understatement!!!
I put some drain unblocker and jeyes fluid down it at that time...i can still smell it
8-X 8-X
most unpleasant!
(sorry for digressing!!!)
8-X Urgh, sounds horrid as does the drip tray with water added - a bit of a faff to clean I think!! And def don't pour it down the sink!! :nono:
I don't think Washing up liquid will save you cos that just emulsifies the fat molecules and has the same effect of solidifying when it's all cold!
I think I would leave the fat to solidify in the drip tray, lift it onto kitchen roll and sling it out - then pour the water away  .
Yuuukkk though !!!!!!! 8-X

Hi Neighboured,
I don't know much but I do know that the George Foreman Grill makes great toasted sandwiches. It also does nice fish fingers!
Something does puzzle me about the whole George Foreman low fat, healthy cooking thingie....why isn't George a SLIM fit fella if his grills work so well (and in my humble opinion, he's not!).
He's not exactly a good advert for the products he endorses. (Ummm sorry George!!!)
lizzie2
Ooh,ooh,ooh
We've got one of those
Now, mr.sp thinks cooking is putting milk on your cornflakes :hihi:  :badmood:
BUT.... even HE uses a GF grill  only for cooking steaks, mind you, but for an amateur- not bad...... ;)

 I have a complaint to make. Last year we bought a George Foreman "Lean, mean fat reducing machine" as per advertisment. Well, I've spent hours sitting on the bl*ody thing and my thighs are no smaller than they were when I started. I do however have some interesteng groove marks.
Mr Foreman you are a liar Sir! Fat reducing my foot!
