I don't leave near an Ikea, but have seen online some products that I'd like to buy. I see at their website that there is a catalogue available and I'm wondering if this offers mail order shopping or just shows what you can buy in their stores. So if anyone can enlighten me, I'd be grateful!

Many thanks!

DG,

You can buy some things online from their catalogue, but some things you can only buy at one of their stores, because you have to collect it your self.

When you say mail order, they dont offer different credit options as such, like a lot of places do.

:) Hi DG, it is as Goosegirl says, you still have to go and collect the goods even though you can order them online...kinda a waste of time really...but typical IKEA!

I think some things they deliver, its just some they will not.

Just looked at their web site, it says you can pay for home delivery at the store. I think you should ring them about delivery.

Thanks everyone. It would appear that a store is in the planning stages in a city not too far from me. Hopefully it will soon open and I'll be able to go there. At the moment I can really see Mr DG agreeing to drive all the way to our current nearest store as it would be quite a hike.
Thank you so much for your help!

:D Hi DG, the thing about IKEA is that things are so flipping cheap, and by and large they are quite good quality...and it isnt just the furniture its all the other things they sell as well, like kitchen stuff, plants curtains, rugs, light fittings etc etc

so what i am saying is, a trek might be very worthwhile if there are quite a lot of things you might like...make it a day out!!! the reatuarant is soooo cheap and quite nice grub as well!!!

half my house is/has been furnished with IKEA stuff and if I didnt have a store near me, i would definitely drive the distance to get to one.

i am very fortunate though, not only can I get to the store in brent cross and the one in lakeside, they are also building one down the road from me in edmonton....  cant wait for it to open!!!!

Annabel is correct, if you can, make a day of it :)

We are fortunate to have Gateshead Ikea (and its next to the Metro Centre), and it is well worth taking the time to go and look around, I got some beautiful glass cabinets, and last time I went  a fluffy zebra (Hastig) for my collection

And I've never had one but my colleague always tells me the hot dogs are good!
