I was having a very grown up chat with our nice neighbour's 8 year old daughter yesterday. She told me in a very determined way that she is going to be a vet when she's older. (awwww, what a sweetie :) )
When I was her age I wanted to be either an astronaut (I had my own space suit), James Bond (I made an ID card out of a playing card), Spider Man (I drew on a T-Shirt to make me a super-hero and climbed trees a lot) or a Truck Driver called 'BJ' with a chimpanzee companion called 'Bear' driving around the country helping people.

Domestic Goddess

I wanted to be Truly Scrumptious from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!! I admired her wardrobe, hairdos and sassy attutude when addressing Dick Van Dyke!!
Nancy Drew was also a great role model, I liked the idea of solving crimes, whilst driving a convertable and having titian hair (it was quite a long time before I realised "titian" was a posh way of saying red!!)
I used to spend hours playing "offices", I had an old typewriter of my mum's and used to bang out letters to my heart's content. I thought that Miss Moneypenny from the Bond films was great. She was the one girl James had an ongoing relationship with!
Now I am a Domestic Goddess/Troll Slayer, I wouldn't say with any certainty that I've actually grown up yet. If I ever do return to work I'll look for something that fits in with my family's schedule and needs rather than fulfill any ambitions.
I do fancy the sound of being Brad Pitt's personal massause!!
I always wanted to be a nurse :doctor: ......until I passed out at the first sight of someone elses blood :sicky:
Then it was a ballerina....but I can't dance :(
Then a gymnast.....but with my build, nae chance
now i'm happy to be a teacher in training :bookread: :shout:

When I was a little boy, 2 1/2 or 3, I wanted to be writer/journalist just like my Dad.
Then I wanted to work in a laboratory, which I did for a while. I tried selling insurance, worked as a digger on archaeologial digs (one of my colleagues went on to become part of the team on Time Team) then I worked as an area officer for a charity, then I eventually became what I had always wanted, a journalist. :D
That made my Dad very proud, as I got a job on a newly launched local paper not long before he died. :)
