Hi anyone... :D

Littlest one and I like to feed the local duck population :) .

Now, I use white and brown bread at home in equal quantities so often have both left over to use.

I think I remember someone telling me many years ago that you should not feed ducks white bread at all, ever ever as it harms them  . So I am reluctant to let them have the white bread, although they gobble it up.

Anyone know if it's OK to feed them white bread? I assume it's OK to feed brown, but is that true too?

We don't want to kill 'em all off!! :o

:D

 Aww that's such a shame - thanks for that page moby. I'd rather know and be sure not to harm the birds or pollute the river :) .

I am so bewildered now though...our Local Paper last year was urging people to feed the ducks as the population had declined and was almost about to disappear! (mind you, they didn't say WHAT to feed them  .)

Must admit, I had noticed that this year there are significantly more than previous years, so something has happened in the interim...And they are particularly voracious too!!

I don't mind the idea of feeding seed - we have some at home for the garden birds, but that info clearly says not to feed them anything at all  .

Oh well :( .

That's quite a cool idea HN... B) .

The paper may know of someone at the Council or whatever that they could contact for a feature, perhaps  .

I mean, just me on my own not doing it isn't going to have much impact cos these ducks are very well fed by lots of people who don't know any better (like me) by the look of it.
