i am having a couple of teeth taken out under intravenous sedation tomorrow. its not a general anesthetic and i am absolutely sh*tting myself. :cry: :blink: :sad:
has anybody got any idea what drug they use to sedate u?

I am the world's WORST for going or rather NOT going to the dentist, I tell you!
You are so brave even getting to the dentist in the first place :notworthy:
All I can say is that if you tell them you feel concerned about it and are worried or nervous, they seem to take it seriously these days (so I am told :rolleyes: ) and do their best to talk it all through with you before anything happens.
I am not quite sure what the difference between IV sedation and General Anaesthetic is to be honest - they sound like they ought to be the same thing :lol:

I do feel sorry for you...but it will be okay... I had a terrible root problem that drove me mad...... couldn't be resolved so I said -'Just take the dratted thing out'
:rolleyes: And they did......didn't feel a thing. :bigeyes: I could hear it! But didn't feel it, if that is any help. :)

:lol: p.s. it was local....and lots of injections.. couldn't smoke or drink tea all afternoon! LPxxx :)

thanks for the support, guys. i'm not supposed to have eaten or smoked since 9pm but ive already had 4 fags this morning. good idea about taking painkillers before i go, i will do that ;) my appointment is for 9am and i'm less scared this morning than i was last night :sad: i still wish i couldve found out what they use, then i couldve checked it out, but i suppose i'll find out pretty soon :blink:

well, its done. in case anybody needs to know for future reference they use valium. and very nice it was 2 :hihi:
