  @Moby...

Well, pretty much the same happened with me as well. I was all up for it, got my copy of the book from Ebay, read about 200 pages, it was a bit hard going but it was OK, then I got distracted by 'The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic' (good fun BTW, a good holiday read) that I got from the library, and well, since then, The Name of the Rose has sat on my bedside table, gathering dust.....

ive read so many books lately as well, but The Name of the Rose just didnt hook me...which surprised me as I really enjoyed the film (DVD of it out today, I hear)...

I feel a bit guilty really!!! ;)

I really didn't enjoy the book at all :(

I found the first 150 pages or so really hard going, then I got into it a bit more, but I found it very long winded, slow and (can I say this) the way it went on and on about the Church, well it wasn't necessary to have as much in, as it didn't add to the storyline. :( ;)

Wouldn't read it again, I found it a real chore! I'm back to Gervase Phinn!!!

There's a film made of this, with Sean Connery. It was well-made, well-worth getting. :)
