He probably thinks he is a Time Traveller.
Bet their is no war going on in his time!
ooohhh!
no mystery is closed to an open mind!!

Officials are quite confident the "time-traveler's" claims are bogus[/b]
Doesn't that sound arrogant? How do they know that? How can they ever be sure? If all of time exists simultaneously around us (past, present, future) then surely all manner of things exist and are possible simultaneously?!
Don't these people watch Star Trek for goodness sake?!! http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Oooh....weird!
Peter, can you let us know of any updates on this bloke? I'm fascinated by stuff like this - I can't see why it's not true. He's just madea mess getting caught hasn't he?

Have you read Hyperspace by the top physicists Michio Kaku? A truly fascinating book about time dimensions.
One theory says our minds perceive time as one long line only going forward BUT evidence from far reaches of space indicates that time could exists as non-liner time, that is, with no start or end only now.
Perhaps this guy has technology to slip into our perceived time frame!
Ah.. yes, Star Trek Voyager is me http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

I read that story too, Peter.
Makes you think. If it's true it's nice to know that we won't have destroyed the planet in 200 years. If he reveals Bin Laden's whereabouts will he have changed the timeline and be unable to return?
I've heard that the World Wide News where the story originally surfaced is the kind of rag that publishes stories such as "I married an Alien", that sort of thing.
Besides which, if the police have no proof of insider trading, how can they keep him locked up until he confesses? Don't they have laws in the USA? Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Come to think of it I've been hearing lots of complaints about recent legislation http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

Ahhh but Misty, was the alleged 'time traveller' from a future that will be, or a future that could be? (We've all seen Scrooge?!).
Peter: ever need a ST episode, let me know, got all of ST Voy, most of DS9, some TNG, all films, but only a little of TOS. http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif I do watch Enterprise on SKY, but see most of the ST: Enterprise episodes earlier, after downloading (*coughs*) over the internet. That book sounds interesting too.
<Event A affects Event B, in turning affecting Event C, thus causing a circular effect on time and different points in time all affecting each other - remember that ST Voy episode?!> Great stuff! http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

I watched a tv prog a while ago about dimensions. Apparently, according to one physicist there are at least 11 dimensions. There may be more he hasn't figured this out yet. It was also stated that given the right conditions a scientist could start another universe - or dimension - in a laboratory. Another big bang, so to speak.
How does this pertain to time travel? Well, as Matthew said 'Is it the future that will be or the future that could be?' I think 'Sliders' would be a good example of the different dimensions. Each week they slide into another reality. In another prog it was said that time travel is a possibility.....but you could only travel to a different time in another dimension, not the one you inhabit, (see Sliders).
Is it a proton that can be in two places at the same time? I'm just rambling here. But I also read somewhere that, for example, if there are two possibilities then time will follow both, you travel along both time lines but you don't realise this because 'you' don't know about the other 'you' on a different line. The possibilities are mind boggling!!! Damn! Why didn't I end up in the reality where I won the lottery? http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
My brain hurts now so I'm going to stop here http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif

In America you are indeed innocent until proven guilty, that is, unless you've consulted the UN and they've said no, then you have thr right to kick whosever a** you like.
Sorry, couldn't resist that one.
I, on the other hand am infact from a race of ultra beings that live deep beneath our oceans and survive totally on chocolate, of course, you don't have the technology to dive that deep but when you do you will find that we're actaully quite nice neighbours.

It is argued that this concept can be scaled up to the larger entity, so that people could exist in either the quantum or the Netwtonian world, meaning that our lives can either be pre-determined as per Newtonian determinism or random and unexpected as per quantum probabilism. In the quantum world, anything could happen![/b]
Hmmm, sounds a bit like the argument about free will. All very paradoxical if you've only got a worn out brain like mine http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
Has anybody ever read any of David Icke's books. Wow! He might sound like a nutcase (remember his 'Son of God' phase?) but he goes on about different dimensions and frequencies. Oh, and about shape-shifting lizards. http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif But get past the lizard thing and he has a lot of very interesting things to say.

Think I am glad I was at work for most of this thread!!
it gets complecated the more you look in to it.
Personally I believe that the "greys" (aliens) are actually humans from the future coming back in time to collect DNA to save the human race.
because something must of happened and thats why they look so pasty!
making the topic worse now....
what is time?
who decided that the year would be a year and a second would fit in a minute?
and these people who make up these theories, and thats all they are, who says they are right.
Einstien did the mc2 thingy and everyone is like ahhh....who said he was right?
when it comes down to it, time travel might well be possible, the people who dismiss the idea because of scientific evidence.....how are the right...who told them they are right, its just a load of theories!
peoples thoughts, I have thoughts on lots of things but because I dont have a degree in quantum physics and I am a female....true.....I often get poo pared....maybe I have the answers but nobody knows it yet!!!

That's sort of what they were doing in that. They were experimenting with creating a more evolved being - half them, half us. Sort of, i think...?!
No I didnt manage to see any of it http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif
I love most sci fi though and have seen the idea quite a lot, also love watching the discovery channel,
which brings me on to who built the pyramids?
I dont think it was the egyptians!!
it was aliens! if you put the 2 biggest pyramids bottom to bottom the make a excact scale of the earth (but obviuosly a pointy earth!)
and in certain places there are certain stars that can be seen through the chambers.
its just too wierd, maybe we are all ansestors of the alien egyptians!
OK, I personally dot believe there are any humanoid lifeforms out there, greys, pinks, blues etc...
The reason for my madness is this, according to science and evolution we have two arms, two legs and two eyes because we live on this planet, the distance of the sun from us determines how our eyes work (light reflection etc.). Say for instance you had not seen a horse before, would you consider your first encounter to be that of the extraterrestrial? I doubt it. We have all seen hair, legs, teeth, eyes, ears etc before because these are all earthly attributes. If an Alien ever did arrive on our planet to say hi, they would look almost certainly like nothing we could possibly comprehend, their attributes would not be of this earth and if they were, their homeplanet would have to be almost the same distance from a sun like ours, with almost the same atmosphere and their evolutionary stage would have to be almost the same as ours, billions of quadrillions to one. And even after all that, they'd have to want to visit here, c'mon, there's been apparent sightings of UFO's in places like Milton Keyens. The do-they-don't-they clause doubles the odds.
but then I could be wrong.

Precisely why aliens (the grays in particular) look like us is because they ARE us. Human time travelers from a great distance ahead in time. These are the evolved humans we will become, larger heads, larger eyes etc. This also explains why aliens are generally elusive so not to affect any future timeline. Why they visit is not clear though.
If they did exist, this is the theory I would believe in.
Peter J.
they are grey and have large eyes because we and future generations of us have s*****d the planet up so much the greys now have to live under ground to escape the ozone poisoning/radiation.
because they dont live in the light their eyes have had to get bigger to take in what light they can and grey is hardly the colour of a tanned person.
I think they are also trying to warn us about what could happen.

What if aliens are interstellar NFH???? http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
As Hamlet said "...There are more things in heaven and earth.....than are dreamed of in our philosophy...."
We have all the cattle mutilation stories, abductions, 'things' in the sky, chupacabra, strange archeology and now...... Planet X!! According to Zacharia Sitchin who has studied the Sumerian cuneform tablets we were created by the Annunaki from the planet Nibiru (Planet X) which is due to make a reappearance sometime this year. An American professor suggests we are all living in a vast computer programme.
So many theories...so little time *sigh* http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
Misty
PS. sorry to mention NFH in an otherwise very interesting thread http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
OK, so what if the greys are us in the future, there is a severe difference in height. If you look at old medieval buildings you'll see that all the doors are small, that's because we used to be a lot shorter in those days, as evolution goes we're getting taller, so that kind of creates a problem with the grey theory.

Yeah, but maybe if the human race got sick for a long time they might shrink http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif I mean, those greys don't exactly look healthy, do they?

Can anyone tell me what the constellation is that looks like a "W"? If i stand outside at night looking north-ish, I have the Plough (Ursa Major?) to my right. The "W" is over to the left. What is it? It has bugged me for months.

Oh, Matthew, now you've opened up a whole new can of worms. My imagination is running riot now http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif Of course we have to assume that NFH don't have access as well......oh, the thought of it!!!!!
Misty
Ok just found this thread and hear is my theory on time travelling.......
I think that time is not something that can be travelled, its probably a perception thing.
You stand a mile away from a cannon, it fires but you hear the bang half a second later....... you are really hearing something from the past, expand that by hours or days...
Then there is the light from a distant star which takes hundreds or thousands of years to reach us...... you are seeing a past event, so proving that it is quite easy to experiance the past if you have access to the original wave.
As for seeing the future, well I'm not sure.
I watch Star Trek too, Enterprise is rubbish but tonights episode was quite good and involved time travel!
Babylon 5 was best

Oooh, Eckie, I couldn't agree more. I loved that series it was very.....mystical http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif A bit more realistic than Star Trek in that it allowed 'Earthlings' to express their religious beliefs. As far as Star Trek is concerned it would appear that only non-earthlings have any beliefs. The time travel plot involved was really well done as well although I must admit some of it went over my head.

Hi Eckie http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
I have to admit, Enterprise is getting a lot better now, I tend to download the episodes and watch them early, before they come onto SKY 1, otherwise I catch them on the telly. I've bought all the series on ST on video, but I won't be buying Enterprise, until perhaps they are all released on DVD.
I tried to watch Babylon 5, but to be honest, could never get into it. Dare I say too, it seemed to me like a cheap imitation of ST: Deep Space 9?!
Anyhow, I tried! http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

I don't think there was any comparison, Matthew. It took me a while to get into it but there was a theme running though all the stories that built up into a climax. If you missed an episode you could be puzzling for weeks as to what happened. Things that happened in earlier episodes suddenly made a lot more sense towards the end. It did, however have one thing in common with Star Trek, i.e. Mr. Chekov (can't remember his real name), he played a very sinister character in Bab5 not at all like his Star Trek role.
Misty
Nice to have common experiences of a more pleasant kind eh? I bought season 1 of Babylon 5 on DVD and it looks better than it did on tv and is an excellently written program, probably one of the few true sci-fi programs made. I see Star Trek series as more soap than sci-fi, they try to cater for more non sci-fi fans. TOS was good though, watched it as child and still do when I can, ********ner is god lol!
Back to time travel, anyone read Timeline by Michael Crichton? Oh and by the way, if time travel is to be ever invented they must be here now, especially in these historic times to be.
