i got up for a pee and a drink at 5am and saw foxy out in the garden with my gardening trainer in his mouth. by time id gone and got my camera phone he'd put the trainer down but allowed me the pleasure of watching him for half an hour as he played, snuffled and jumped up and down like he was on a trampoline.

scuse the state of my garden, its in the middle of being made nicer.

Foxes are just as nice -or as nasty!- as any other creature.

I mean, have you ever asked a carrot what it thinks of a rabbit? :o :D

no worries, my dog and birds all live indoors. i feel privilaged that he allowed me to watch him for so long. he knew i was there and didnt seem phased.

i only wish id seen last year what my neighbours saw. when we were at work she saw the mummy fox with a couple of cubs in our garden and watched as the cubs played with my dogs toys.

I live in East London, I see foxes all the time, crossing the road even in broad daylight. I havent seen one in my garden ,but I often hear them barking/calling...I worry about my guinea pig as well, but to be honest I think the pesky squirrels are more of a threat as they go right in his hutch when its open to get his food, and they really cuss him while they are doing it....

anyway, I think foxes are amazing really, being able to adapt to the urban environment, but I was reading in the local press a few negative comments about how they are getting so bold they are going inside people's houses...and 'what if they attack our babies' ...silly nonsense...it would be awful if people started tormenting these creatures because of scaremongering....

Hi there,

I used to have 6 pet Geese, I had them for six and a half yrs. They were put into their Waterfowl sheds at night. We have the local foxes and cubs visit every night to forage for food, and play like puppies on our lawn.

What happened to my Geese? Did the vermin get them, THE NFH VERMIN DID.

Foxes look for a easy meal, road kill, bins, takeaways. NOT poultry or pets locked securely away at night.

You could put a lock on the hutch, so that if the fox sniffs around the hutch it will not knock it open by accident.

Never had a problem with foxes.

Problems with stray dogs, kids tormenting them and Vermin NFH that killed them.

Goosegirl - If my NFH harmed any of my animals, they would bring back the noose especially for me...

The worst thing is they went totally lame, could not keep food or water down. And
died on the way to the vets. 6yrs and 4 months of being healthy. 2months of NFH and they were dead in a week.

Foxes win by my vote. I'll have them in my garden anytime.

When me and my partner moved into this house 15 months ago we had so many plans (first house excitement) and were hoping to build a pond.

After seeing the individuals round here I would never even entertain the thought now. I could not rest having any creature out in our back garden.

Hi Bird Woman,

Great picture. Thanks. It must ahve been great watching the fox for half an hour. :D

Having been brought up as a child in an area where the only 'wild life' was a goldfish called Harry  , birds, 1 hedgehog and of course - dogs and cats, I've grown up being fascinated by other 'urban' wildlife that I'd only heard about or seen on TV. In the past weeks, we've seen foxes, a badger, a resident frog and discovered a squirrel living in our tree.

What happy ribbits we are! :jump:

To GG and BM, what happened to your pets makes me so. Let's hope that what goes around really comes around.
