Arcade Improvements!

Hi all,

Just to let you know that we have a new Games Arcade in place and it has now been added to each NFHiB Forum skin. :)

Access the 'Arcade' from the relevant button on each skin (all at the top, next to the 'Search', 'Calendar', 'Help', 'Members' buttons, etc).

Or you can access the Arcade (http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums/index.php?act=Arcade) directly here.

Improvements on this version include top member scores, champions, tournaments, etc - much more than we had on the other more basic arcade! B)

Any problems, please let me know - thanks.

Looking at the list Blue Cow has already in the topic view (above the avatar) - I may have to remove that section from the post view for all skins, as it may get quite, quite long for some players and push the post view down to be a little odd! :) :D

Absolutely Sapph - just don't get caught in the office! :)

This freely-available third party Arcade add on, is one of the best, free add-on's I've seen and is available to use at many different forum boards here and there. :D This improvement much betters the last Arcade modification we already had in place - the score board alone this time, for this version, is great! :)

To play balloon hunter with the keyboard, use the arrow key (up) to lift the bow - keep the space bar held down until you're ready to fire, then release and away goes your arrow. If you let go of the space bar in quick succession all your arrows will drop to the ground :rolleyes: :lol: like mine did until I could work out how to play it! :lol:

the penguin goes up in the air then twizzles round then falls, as he twizzles in the air get you yeti to ice him, the snowball should, with luck and a bit of practice, hit the penguin and drives him into the target :)

Just to save anyone else trying....Sonic is a bit of a cheat :(

I've just completed the second stage (acquiring a very large high score in the process :lol: ) and it just finished! I think that there are only those two levels.

I didn't get to register my score - but I did get a nice cheat code: sonic-run2 (but what good that is , I'm not sure).

I've probably missed something!

Holly - I can give you some balloon hunter tips if you like (as it's the only game that I'm even remotely okay at :lol: :lol: ).

Always use full power (space bar fully pressed) to ensure that you always get the same result with each hit.

And take your time with it.

I always try to hit the ballons as they are just out of the baskets. They are worth less points, but then you don't have to factor in for the wind. For the first basket, you tap the "up cursor" four times, for the middle, five and for the third, about six times (you get to know the height as you go).

Only fire when you are absolutely positive that you'll hit.

As the game progresses, the ballons become more and more frequent and so the game gets easier. Once you've reached about 300, they are coming fast and furious, so you've more chance of getting two coming out at once (where you get thirty points for hitting both of them). Your score will start to shoot up at this point.

Don't know if that helps, but that's how I play it!

If anyone wants to give me any tips on Zookeeper - then I'd be very grateful. I really like the game, but the time bar goes down so fast that I can't get any good scores :( :) And all my animals look positively miserable :cry:

Zookeeper, try and get more than 3 in a line, try and move an icon that will create two lines at once (either horizantals/ verticals/ both) for a bonus score. And, always make sure you get to the special icon when you see it. I'll let the champion explain how they managed to get such a high score though.... :blink: :lol:

Annabel, stock the blocks up as much as you can and get as many "Tetris" with the long thin ones, best way to clock a high score! :D

Sorted with Word Scrambler (same problem as Penguin Shot) - game removed and added manually, alongside your top score which I've re-added - seems to have fixed the issue. :)

How did you get such a high score on zookeeper for example!

You know how you have to get a certain number of each animal for the little icon in the top right hand corner to change... and when all of the icons have changed you go on to the next level? I just don't get one last icon so I can play the level I'm on for a bit longer... that way you spend more time on the lower levels... if you see what I mean. I like the green ribbits best. :D

What I want to know is how on earth has mr ribbit got over 3,000 on that wretched maze.

Oi! He didn't... I did! :D He is a bit of a monkey so I can understand why you'd think he'd be good at getting them across ponds. :hihi: I love that game... it takes mucho practise. I love the way the little fella waves his nuts at you if he gets across... bless. :lol:

We can create the tournaments for 2, 4 or 8 players by adding their names into the Arcade Tournaments section.

So, we haven't had one yet - but I've just created one for 'snake' for you and BMM - if you'd like to help test it out?
