I was just wondering if anyone else would like to do a 'Richard and Judy' and start a reading circle...someone did suggest it in one of the threads here, forgive me but I cant remember who....I am bursting to have a go, personally!

R&J are starting another series of their book club, do we want to shadow that or shall we do our own thing?

Let me know!

Oh dear, I don't know what a 'Richard and Judy' reading circle is.

Neither do I... what would we have to do? I like joining things... except aerobics classes, anthing involving a football, anything that doesn't involve chocolate... and queues.

Richard and Judy had a wildly successful book club on their channel 4 prog...many of the books they recommended became instant best sellers, such as 'The lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold ..Toast by Nigel Slater etc etc...

They are going to do another one focussing on summer reads...i will go and get the full list and post it here...then we could decide if we all want to read a book off the list...and then come here and discuss it ...or maybe we can chose a book we all want to read and discuss that instead....

i dont want people thinking they have to go and buy books, so if we would prefer to read a book we could find in our library, that would be ok by me.... .

:book: Count me in. I'll read anything as long as it isn't about football (or wizards called Harry :P ). :D

hi folks...just put a message on the 'historical whodunnits' thread...there were a few mentions of Umberto Eco's 'The Name of the Rose'...

i wonder if we would like to all read this one? hopefully we can find copies in libraries as well?

any other suggestions or comments , please !!!!!! :jump:

:book: I'll pop along to the local bookshop at the weekend. How long do we have to read it?

Lets give ourselves plenty of time, say one month...so if we start from now then we can all get together in a month (7 July) and go from there....? what does everyone think?

in meantime we can think about the next book we want in the reading club!

I ordered mine from the library a while ago now, however, they are having trouble getting it for me. Apparently someone has it and wont bring it back!!!!

i did originally say lets try to finish it by 7 july but this is probably a bit unrealistic...shall we extend it to the end of july instead???? :jump:

Well done Annabel! I've had loads of books and stuff from Ebay, hubby goes mad when I say "we are expecting x number of parcels"

Yes August may be a good time, I'm away first two weeks, so maybe end of August would be good?? :D ;) :D

Bet Richard and Judy don't have this problem! :hihi:

The library said that it could take a while to get it sent to them and I didn't want to wait, so I've taken Annabel's advice and have just bought one off Ebay for 99p!

I'll let you know when it arrives, I hope that I can keep up with you guys (depends on whether it's a rough read or not :D )

Has anyone started it yet?
