Jarrow Lass and Child of Jarrow

I have recently read Jarrow Lass and Child of Jarrow by Janet Mcleod Trotter. They are fiction books but based on the lives of Rose - grandmother of Catherine Cookson -in Jarrow lass, and Catherines mother Kate in Child of Jarrow. I think that the books were very well researched and show the hard lives that people endured before the days of the "Welfare State"- especially in Jarrow Lass. Anyone who is a Catherine Cookson fan would enjoy these books.
