Review
Let's hope some national pride can be salvaged after last year's fiasco, when the UK entry from the unfortunate Jemini did not receive a single vote.
But in some ways with Eurovision, the results are largely irrelevant.
For television audiences it's all down to taking part in a massive kitsch celebration.
No-one actually tunes in for the music, do they?
Once again this year, the splendid Terry Wogan is at the helm, guiding viewers with grave, dignity and great dollops of humour.
Live from Istanbul, Turkey.

Wayyyy Hayyy! I'll be watching! :D Last years entry was so out of tune, the intonation was exceptionally........bad! Do you remember?!
What's the UK entry like this year, anyone heard it? :D
word is that last years nil points had something to do with the war :(
the rest of Europe did not approve.
interesting facts about the contest.....(taken from the metro paper)
*in the last 25years, Greece has voted for Turkey only 3 times
*in the last 21 years, Cyprus has given maximim points to Greece no fewer times than 11!
*France has given more points to Britain than any other country since 1975
*In the last 25 years Britain has been most likely to vote for Ireland (172 points) but least likely to vote for Finland (19 points)
*last year Britain did not recieve a single douze points (after invasion of Iraq)
*Belgium has been voted last a record nmber of 8 times!
*Poland and Russia do not like voting for each other, Russia has only given Poland 6 points and Poland has only given Russia 14 points back, not much love lost there then!

This years entry is one of the Fame Academy losers, Mr Pub Singer himself - James Fox.
:)
The song's not tooooo bad, IMO.
;)
Luv it Luv it Luv it!!
I was not totally enthralled when he won the competition to be our entry, but now I feel that he's in with a good chance - ooh hope so :hihi:

HN - you can look through all of the DVDs you like, but I bet you won't find anything as nearly as funny :hihi:
The voting is very political (although we really didn't do ourselves any favours with last year's entry) and my only gripe is that the whole thing drags on for so long
No, No, No!!
Get a few of these ---->
and a couple of these ---> :wine:
and some of these ---> :eat:
and the night just flies past...all too quickly :(
:hihi:

Alternatively - isn't "Thelma and Louise" on?? :jump: :jump: :jump:
Sapph :D :D :D
It's the one Saturday night of the year I will stay in :P
I love Eurovision - Terry Wogan makes it for me :D
His comment last year "look its Dr Death and the Tooth Fairy" at the start, to describe the presenters, had me ill with laughter
This year look out for many "Xena Warrior Princess" lookalikes - at work we have been checking them out!
:o
I don't think I have ever witnessed a more bizarre contest!
The voting is totally barmy - even worse than usual..
Some totally weird song is doing really well - I mean WEIRDER than usual, then Xena the warrior is next and a very peculiar Johnny Rotten - turkish - type - impersonator is doing far too well
Poor old UK is doing very badly...oh dear!!
I'm off for a consolation -->
:hihi:
