The Beatles the greatest band of all time.
A lot of the magic went when they split up .
There was a certain snobbery at the time as to which band was the best The Beatles or The Rolling Stones (who's music was much more sinister and not nearly as good).
I,ve got an inbuilt phobia about the Beatles
My older brother played their music 24/7 and we shared a room
Guess i wasn,t old enough to appreciate good music
Since the split i honestly think John has done the better material not keen on paul at all

Can't help thinking a poll like this should include a fifth name: George Martin

John Lennon always had the rebellious image while Paul had the slightly smarmy all round entertainer PR man image. Despite make an utter cowpat of himself in recent years with awful albums and marrying Heather Mills, he was musically more adventurous that Lennon ever was. McCartney was in to electronica and music cut up and the arts in general waaaaaaay before Lennon.
Though I love a lot of Lennon's music, despite his image of being a man of peace..blah blah blah, Lennon was not the only one to lose his mother at an early age (McCartney did too) Lennon it appears was a bit of mysoginist who was still wont to partake of a bit of heroin and though I hate to admit it he was not exactly setting the world on fire at the time of his death - irrespective of the sales figures for Double Fantasy.
Would opinions have been different if Paul had been killed instead of John?

"Would opinions have been different if Paul had been killed instead of John? "
very perceptive question, Crispy - unaswerable but interesting to speculate
That was always a brilliant interview, think it was John Lennon was asked
if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world.
He came back with "He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles" !!
Ringo threw a major wobbler and threatened to leave the band !!
Btw...........Saw it on the History Channel !! :P
Real love - John Lennon
All my little plans and schemes,
lost like some forgotten dreams,
seems that all I really was doing
was waiting for you.
I dedicate this to my wife Sandra.
