I am posting this in the vain hope that I am SHAMED into stopping it...

I chew the edges of my nails - any little rough bit of skin, off it comes even to the point of bleeding and using plasters! :o

8-X

It's so disgusting, but I have done it for as long as I can remember  .

It only really occurred to me the other day that it is so hideous and actually exquisitely painful...so why on earth do I do it???!

Yuk!!!!

And that makes me wonder if anyone else has bad habits too (so that I don't feel so alone in this  )

Confess all, if you dare to! :D

It is a release for you: doing something that you have control over in your own life - and your own pain. With everything that is going on at the moment, it's no surprise that you are thinking more about what you're doing.

Hmm, my habit's too bad...

Think everyone has there little "peccadillos" mazza, your not alone :)

i used to pick my nails when i was young, i tried biting once or twice but it was too difficult :P ... at least i seem to have gotten bored of doing it for some time ;)

Sometimes you do something because its something to do, my brothers fiancee works at a nursery, and said there is a child there who pulls her hair out, as a comfort thing, lots of people have lots of thing they might do,

can you believe some ppl even pick their nose,

In-cred-eeb-bla!! (parle avec un accent francais...vive la france!)

i think i might be over-tired :P

/me wanders off in search of nails clippers and mumbles "that reminds me..."

Now that you have our complete attention ... please confess.

I'm a smoker which must rank somewhat higher up the scale of bad habits than nail chewing.
There was a little snippit on TV a couple of days back showing our last surviving veteran of World War One . I recall he was 103 years old and they showed him still mobile and puffing on a pipe !!

Yeah right - like I'd admit them all here!!

They are all far too bad!! (And there are probably loads!!)

I have a really bad habit of speaking my mind though (that's before I've allowed my brain to engage!)

 alas i too pick at my nails and i wish i would stop as i like to have elegant nicely painted fingernails, and the effect is spoiled by my manky cuticles!

i also pick my spots (and any one elses who will let me!)...there you go ...how gross is that and i cant believe i actually fessed up to it!:blush:

Ick . what a nice discussion

Perhaps I should take up a pipe to join in? (always fancied leaning on a spade in the garden smoking a pipe after digging the vegetable patch - brings back memories of my Grandad - however, I know what smoking does to your lungs and the effect it has on life expectancy so its just a thought :( )

Considering the (mental) state of most of our neighbours this seems to be a very conservative tally... a couple of smokers and a couple of nail chewers.

:D - methinks people are not willing to divulge, Christina!!!! I mean who wants to admit that they pick their bogies or chew their toenails... :wow:

I can understand the general reluctance Annabel ... my imagination was running a bit wild wondering if weird neighbours stirred up some equally weird bad habits..nail bitting. bogies and smoking all seem a bit tame somehow.

you do have something there christina....when I had an NFH, I developed a horrible habit of looking out of my window everytime i heard a noise or saw a KFH running about...i wasted so much of my time obsessing about what they were getting up to and fretting about my car etc etc.

it was so draining and depressing.... :(

i was told that in biology, very good for veggies like me.....not that I do it!!! dirty!!

I do however... bite around my nails  and my fingers get sore, a habit I am trying really hard to break, I am rubbing cream into my cuticles and I use avon stong results paint on nail conditioner, which does actually help my nails to grow!

then I watch a sad film and my fingers are destroyed again :(

:wow: Blimey, I wasn't taught anything like that at school :hihi:

I don't know whether I can feel another confession coming on now...

Back to the fingers...I now have a further three very sore since I first posted...shame isn't enough to kick this habit then

PS Moby - take a look - nothing visual there, verrry interesting reading though
