Just seen this article! :D

Cream eggs given Easter battering

AND after the fast came the gluttony. At a belt-bursting 500 calories a go, deep-fried chocolate cream eggs are proving a hit at a chippie for Easter.

Stavros Yonnes is doing a roaring trade selling cream eggs smothered in batter and deep fried at his chip shop in Warrington, Cheshire. He describes them as having an “unusual” taste but said that the combination of crispy batter, chocolate and creamy centre made a delicious treat.

They have appealed mainly to younger customers of the Golden Fish Bar. Mr Yonnes, 22, accepts that they are hardly advisable for anyone concerned about his or her waistline, even at Easter. “I certainly wouldn’t recommend them to anyone watching their figure,” he said.

The culinary creation has horrified nutrition experts concerned about Britain’s increasing obesity, who have already advised against the deep-fried Mars bar, popularised in Scotland, and the 1,000-calorie deep-fried chocolate sandwich dubbed the “suicide sarnie”.

More than 80 million Easter eggs will be opened this Easter, accounting for 8 per cent of annual chocolate sales. But while the nation indulges in its chocolate-fest it is also renewing its love affair with the hen’s egg. Sales have risen by up to 20 per cent in the run-up to Easter.

The rise comes after a Food Standards Agency survey last month which confirmed that British eggs have beaten salmonella.

Beth - yes I do remember scooping out the insides like that - although the eggs seemed much bigger back then (maybe it's just that I was smaller  ).
Although I used to like the minty green eggs better (can't remember what they were called  :( )

Oooh Beth, I did that too, scooped the middle out of Cream Eggs, sooo sticky!

BC I remember those green minty eggs too, can't for the life of me remember the name but they had white paper with loads of green writing on.

My mum bought me a Buttons egg, one for hubby too. Haven't opened them yet. My mother in law got us a Terrys Chocolate Orange Egg. And I bought the dogs, doggy easter eggs made with dog choclate and filled with bones - 99p each they were great value B)

And yesterday at a garden show a little girl was offering mini eggs to anyone who bought a plant - that was nice!

Happy Easter :)
