I have just received this from our Travel Agents at work
QUOTE
Severe gales will affect many northern and central parts of the UK today, with particularly damaging storm force winds likely across parts of Scotland. Disruption is expected to be greatest in central and southern Scotland, with a high risk of structural damage. Travelling conditions will be extremely poor with the risk of significant delays. Winds should ease from the west through Thursday evening.
We are already seeing some disruption to flight operations and have been monitoring airline information and airport Arrivals and Departures boards. Longer queues have started to form at Heathrow Terminal 5. Reed & Mackay are reviewing Traveller Location Reports and will be contacting passengers affected when we receive advance notice of any disruption to specific flights.
Rail Services in Scotland are also disrupted with some services diverted or cancelled. ScotRail are advising customers who usually travel during the afternoon or evening peak hours to travel earlier in the day if possible, as the worst of the forecast bad weather is due around this time and more disruption to services is likely.
Police are advising against all travel in the Lothian, Central and Borders area between 14:00 and 21:00.
