Hi, Scotish Power have a sub station at the back of my mothers house with a shared access drive to their station and her garage. The drive has locked gates to which she has a key. Recently I had been doing some repairs to my classic car in the shared driveway. The car was on jacks. An inspector from same company saw this and said I must remove the car, I have now moved it into the garage. Soon after this the lock was changed and a new key was not given, blocking in my car. I havn't had access to the road for over a month now. I have given an undertaking not to park my car on the drive in future, and despite repeated requests, they still have not sent a new key. Can I remove the lock without breaking the law?

Hi
:welcome:

I would not break the lock as they have lots of money and would possible try to take you to court for damage!

I would send a recorded delivery letter stating your concerns to the head of the company, in the letter give them a deadline to respond and make the situation right, keep a copy of the letter!

I would also go to CAB or a solicitor to ask for further advice, some legal firms offer a free half hour consultation

sadly big companies think they can bully the small person :( but I would thought they are breaking some rules or deeds by blocking in your car
there is always watch dog wink wink they love such a story should you not get any where but |I did not say that
