I heard on the news today that this year, in order to avoid a repeat of the nil point fiasco that was Gemini in our 2003 Eurovision entry, we are having the opportunity to vote for our entry for 2004.
By rights we should have been excluded from the competition this year, as we were in the bottom six (but the fact that the UK contributes so much money to the contest means that we are permanent entrants).
Personally I think that Gemini were top quality entertainment! I haven't laughed so much at the TV since the Dev and Deirdre affair in Corrie   But having a telephone poll will surely help drum up more interest in our entry.
Fingers crossed that it's not another embarrassment

It was terrible last year, lol.
Good to see we get a vote, at least this years entry may be more in tune - the intonation of those two made most of the viewers who watched it in 2003 cringe and reach for the off button I bet - it was truly embarassing.
I just watched the 'Making your Mind Up' programme...
I love the Eurovision and thought it's going to be great, to have a phone vote, POP-Idol style to select this year's entrant. :)
But it wasn't really any different to years ago, I thought, when they had 'A song for Europe' (yes, I am THAT dedicated :hihi: ) .
I thought that this time, the 'Judges' would be giving a critique after each song, but, as ever, they were so wishy washy, really disappoining.
Anyway, I think the 'Boy Band' (Hyrize?) should win, not really my cuppa tea, but I thought they had the most bouncy song and performed it well...Plus they were quite easy on the eye B)
Unlike No 1 - did anyone else notice that lass with the black fishnet pop sox, with day-glo yellow 3 '' stillettoes and lurid pink top on - eeeeekkkk!!! :o
Results is due at 9pm!!!

Missed it all last night, who won? Was it James 'Fame Academy' pub singer?
Yep, 'twas James Fox - of Fame Academy, er fame
A bit unfair really since he was clearly well known compared to the others.
His song is in a ballad style, but not on a par with the likes of Jonny Logan, so i am not sure that he will get the right sentiment.
I missed part of this prog (baby having a lovely time in the bath and didn't want to spoil his fun  ) but I am sure that there was boo-ing going on cos he kept getting the top marks.
My choice, Hyrise, was second and I get the impression that their fans were doing the boo-ing, as if the show was fixed or something - oooh controversial!
Well, now he's been chosen, lets hope he'll do his best and that we get at least a few points this year!! I believe we have to wait til 3rd May (? ish!) to find out!

I heard the song that won last night, and I'm really not too convinced  I don't think that it's going to do too well, but I will be delighted to be proved wrong ;)

It's all about peace and love and unity!!
And there's me thinking that it was all about bad music, tactical voting and Terry Wogan's humorous ramblings
I will more than likely be watching (and voting!!) anyhow B)
I love Eurovision, only Saturday of the year I definitely stay in. Get loads of wine and beer in, hubby and nutty mates, we all have a good laugh at the tunes (stick the subtitles on as well, even better!), just lurve Terry Wogan and his sarcasm, he makes it for me, I live in fear that we win as its never as good if its over here!
I actually got attacked by a dog and ended up in hospital during Eurovision 2 years ago - mouth needed 60 stitches, but I managed a "who won?" (more like (thuw wurn actually!) :P
Bring on 15th May!

I think so too Blue Cow! I am sure there will be some stunning entries to beat us - though only by a slim margin I reckon - LOL!
Yay Eeyore!!!
You're talkin' my language!! It's def party time in my house on Eurovision day (even if it's just me partaking   ) :notworthy:
Tsk BC, how could you be so cynical :hihi:
I think we are in with a good chance this year.
