Are there any threads on here already about the forthcoming Royal wedding?

What do we all think? Personally I love a wedding as those of you who watched me plan my wedding will know!!

I am an old romantic and love to see Wills & Harry being "normal" lads - well as normal as they can be in their privileged position. I know the Royals do nothing and people like to moan, but I love em!!
Also looking forward to Zara's wedding too.

I wouldn't go as far as buying a flag or going to a street party, but I will watch it all on tv and buy the Hello/OK mags so I can look at all the pics!

Sorry, hate it, lol, ignoring everything about it (apart from your post of course!)

BTW, I couldn't agree more with you; the sooner they become "normal" the better. :p

Only England would fight a bitter civil war which ripped the country apart and then invite the loosers back into power a few years later....

Having said that I hope you enjoy the occasion tortoise :)

lets hope this wedding will be free from trouble on the streets. there are the few that wish to make a name for themselves as mentioned in the press recently. William seems to be more grounded than his father was so hopefully his marriage will have a better start and be successfull. Just a shame his mother is not here to join in the celebrations.

I love a wedding too - and always watch Royal weddings :)

I will be up early on the day and be glued to the TV all day long :wacko::blink:

I sincerely hope there is no trouble

I think it raises the spirits of the nation and Wills and Harry are affectionately thought of by many simply because they are Dianas sons ;) Also, Kate may not be short of a bob or two, but her family history is interesting and she really is a ''commoner'' ^_^ As I understand it but for her Grandmothers social climbing she would not be in the position she is in today as she descends from completely ''normal'' everyday folk beyond her Grandmother.

I am really looking forward to it and we will be putting our bunting up today

It is very sad that Diana is not there to see William marry. On a personal level, my eldest son marries 3 weeks after Wills and KAte, so as a soon to be mother of the groom myself it saddens me a lot that Diana will miss her sons special day. If she is like me she would be bursting with excitement and pride right now

I probably won't be watching as at my step-daughters new house helping decorate  I am not sure that I would be glued to the TV but I would love to see the highlights

I think the whole media are going over the top prior to Friday and it does seem to be taking over everything which is a little annoying ;)

I love all the pomp and ceremony but then I am of the older generation who respect and love Royalty ;)

One thing I will say is that unfortunately I was never really a fan of Diana for obvious reasons.

One thing I will say is that unfortunately I was never really a fan of Diana .

Neither was I. Not something I usually admit too, seems to get a similar reaction to saying "I enjoy kicking puppies at the weekend" for some reason

At least this Royal Bride appears to have more than about 2 braincells to rub together - which is more than could be said for Fergie or Diana

I liked Diana, but have never understood the whole "big thing" about her tbh. I love looking at the history of the Royal Family and am a fan of Queen Victoria and her life. I enjoy all the pomp and ceremony too and spotting all the lesser royals.

My favourite Princess however was Grace Kelly. I adore her. Mr T got me a book all about her wedding dress and also one all about Diana's dress when I was planning our wedding.

I do like seeing the younger Royals like Wills, Harry and Zara greeting each other and the Queen like normal Grandchildren would. Having said that I think the Queen has always been quite close to her Grandchildren, but has just not shown it publicly. We watched a clip of Fergie & Andrew leaving Buck House after their wedding and you see the Queen running to grab a 4 yr old Prince Williams hand as he chases the carriage. They are the moments I like.

The press annoy me though how they "big" it up constantly which just serves to irritate everyone. They also annoy me with their hints at the Princes not liking Camilla. If that was so then why do they visibly greet her with great affection, why is Kate using the same florist as Camilla did for her wedding and why is Camilla's granddaughter a bridesmaid??

I don't think I'll be watching'the wedding' i might have a quick look to see'the dress' but I'm sceptical about the wedding,I'm thinking Prince William is at the age where he needs heirs himself ,so i'm wondering if he's being pressured into it and will it be a case of Kate providing 2 heirs then Thank you it was nice knowing you like Fergie and Diana ,Hope i'm wrong.

Tortoise- Queen Victoria I have a book called 'Alice' Dating from 1884 and it contains extracts from Alice to her Mother Queen Victoria ,some of it is so sad,

Like the sound of the book. I came across a jubilee book for Queen Mary in a charity shop!

I think Edward and Sophie will have a long happy marriage as they keep themselves to themselves or so it seems. I think Fergie and Andrew were a mistake, but it is nice they are still close. Their wedding seemed to be one planned to be bigger and better than Diana's. Even her engagement ring was a ruby version of Diana's. Princess Anne's kids seem to be happy too.

Hi Tortoise,

Dug out the book heres some snippets from it ,Princess Alice As she was called in England ,....Grand Duchess of Hesse

Princess Alice's Children and husband are suffering from diptheria-
Telegram Nov 15
My precious May no better;suffers so much.I am in such horrible fear.Irene and Ernie fever less.Ernie's throat very swelled.Louis no worse;almost no spots.Aliky recovering.
evening
Darling May's state unchanged;heartrending Louis' fever and illness on the increase .the others,as one could expect;all severe cases.May's most alarming.

On the morning of the 16th of Nov sweet little princess 'May'-the Princess's sunshine'as she ever called her-was taken from her doting parents. The Grand Duchess (Alice) telegraphed as follows to her Mother (Queen Victoria)

..Our sweet little one is taken.Broke it to my poor Louis this morn;he is better;Ernie very very ill.in great anguish

The pain is beyond words but 'God's will be done!'Our precious Ernie is still source of such terrible fear. The others, though not safe, better

Telegram Nov 17th
Ernie decidedly better;full of gratitude

The coffin had to be closed very soon,it was entirely covered with flowers. The Grand Duchess quietly entered the room where it had been placed. She knelt down near it ,pressing a corner of the pall to her lips;then she rose and the funeral service began,
When it was over ,she cast oe long, loving look at the coffin which hid her darling from her.she then left the room and slowly walked upstairs. At the top of the stairs she knelt down and taking hold of the golden balustrade looked into the mirror opposite to her and watch the coffin being taken out of the house. She was marvellously calm;only long drawn sighs escaped her,
When all had left the palace ,she went to the Grand Duke .who was to be kept in ignorance of all that was going on.The Duchess had herself arranged every detail of the funeral,

While I was out and about today I saw a few signs saying the roads was closed from 2pm tomorrow for a street party, so that is nice I think :D.

I had planned on watching the whole coverage from beginning to end quietly at home but my niece has just decided on a last minute get together to celebrate the wedding, so once the balcony appearance has happened we will all be off round to hers for a right Royal celebration and toast the happy couple .
I have bunting up outside our house and we are even having scrambled egg with smoked salmon for breakfast

I do love a wedding ;)

It was fabulous. Duchess of Cambridge looked absolutely stunning in her Princess Grace inspired dress and Prince William and Prince Harry looked very handsome if not a little shell shocked!

Really enjoyed watching it.

For once I really "warmed" to Prince Harry. I thought he came across really well with the way he was with the little bridesmaids and Pageboys in the carriage.

I did manage to see most of it and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, in fact stupid as I am I had a little tear in my eye when she walked down the isle. I think Pippa looked stunningly beautiful and the official photo of the Bride and Groom and Pippa and the little ones is great.

I watched it round my oldest friends house I arrived at 8:20am and left at about 2ish. Really enjoyed it, and she laid on a wonderful full English cooked breakfast :eat:We had loads of fun and lots of laughs. She had also made home made scones and coffee kisses, which we really nice. I thought that the Duchess of Cambridge looked really beautiful and loved her dress and her sisters one as well, god they are sooo slim.

Have to say thought thought Prince Andrews daughters looked a complete and utter mess and who ever advises them on their clothes should be shot. That fascinator, I thought at first it was deer antlers that she had on her head.

Have a look on the web at some of the photo shopping people have done to Beatrice's hat. So funny. One person has made it into a loo seat.

Prince Harry was a star. Bet his speech was excellent. Love it how the brothers are so close.
