View Full Version : Friendly Bacteria
Ummm, I know this is a bit daft but ah well, here goes... B)
Those ads for 'friendly bacteria' yogurt drink things...it says 'you'll feel the difference after two weeks' .
Does anyone know what they mean by that statement???
How does it make you feel??
Does it really make you want to do bongo drums on your desk and bound about everywhere??
I just want to know!! (am wary of trying it cos it's got bugs in it  )
Anyone?? :D

I've just bought a pack of bio/live/active ('funny') yoghurt, can't say it's got me dancing in the street yet.... :wow:

:D
What happens is when you first start drinking it, your guts churn about quite alarmingly and an epicentre of wind whirls around inside you, culminating in a quite dramatic natural expulsion. :wow: This can last for several days and be accompanied by grippy guts and general feeling of 'what the heck am i doing'. :ill: then you realise how expensive the stuff is and decide it is not really worth the bother as you could eat a nice ordinary yoghurt and get the same benefits without all the gusty side effects.
a lady at my work drinks it but only once or twice a week as she cant cope with thefallout!!!!
or to sum up, i think its a waste of money and has no real advantages, its just a hoodwink like so many of these things.

I right with you there Annabel - typical pseudo science advertising more often used for cosmetics. eg "reduces the appearance of wrinkles" means it works like polyfilla.

 Oh Annabel, tears are rolling down my cheeks after reading your description :hihi: Thanks, needed a good laugh
I tried a natural yogurt bio thingy (not sure it was the desk-bongo kind, think it was Yakult) when I was on antibiotics for a chest infection last year.
I wasn't quite bongo-playing, but it did lessen the horrible queasy side-effects of the antibiotics. It was expensive though!! Maybe an ordinary yogurt would have worked just as well - I must be a sucker for advertising!

How does it make you feel??
Answer: In my experience, no different at all (sorry)
  @ Annabel BTW
:wow:
I had no idea that there would be so much interest in this!!! :hihi:
I do confess to buying a stash of it (on special offer...verrry cheap considering  ) and I've done a week now.
Was just wondering if I should invest (now full price ;) ) into a second week  .
Haven't noticed any evil expulsions  yet, but funnily, I felt really quite good for the past few days...Usually I need to be shoe horned out of my bed but lately I'm almost able to leap up!!
And it's not as if my life is any better, I mean I have the usual, if not worse stresses so it's nowt to do with a change of fortune
I'm just curious!! :D

I will admit to using this product.
A couple of years back went through a very bad period at work too much
stress which led to stomach problems.
Resorted to drinking ginger beer and yogurt with a long name which i wont
attempt to spell.
It wasn't a cure , but it did help to cope with the stomach problem.
Well, I took the plunge and invested in another stash - orange flavour this time - only cos it's still on offer
I am a bit concerned now... I had no effect last week, but feel truly gippy this eve and have Annabel's words fleeing through my head about evil expulsions and gippy guts etc... :o
Getting really worried now  :toilet: :hihi:

Haven't tried them here but by the sound of it the "wind etc" that seems to be mentioned is not the thing that is needed in a house with 4 men :hihi:
;)

It's OK!! :D
Was only a false alarm !! :hihi:
I will persevere for the remaining time and see if it 'makes a difference' (in a non-windy way)
