Nothing over night, but we've been promised a definite significant fall this eve and over night with blizzards on top :o .

It was a red sky this morning - oooh shepherd's warning, so I'm off to Tesco to get litres of milk and bread !!!! :D

Love the smiley snow ball Matthew ! Think I'll try that when the snow comes

Not a flake, not a crystal but lots of sun and we had a red sky tonight. BBC weather says it should snow overnight followed tomorrow by sunny spells and wind.

I must admit I find it all a bit strange that so much is being made of snow in January :P We've had too many mild winters lately, methinks, people are forgetting that snow in Jan and Feb is perfectly normal :P Well at least in other places, seems we in Liverpool are quite sheltered and when the rest of the country is blanketed we get nothing!! Might change tonight though :)

3 inches of snow today - and it took me 2 hours to get to work (usually only takes 50 mins) as everyone was driving really really slow (come on! the roads been cleared and gritted, theres no snow or ice, its just wet!) Arrived fuming. Not looking forward to the drive home.

:o awww man, well i spoke too soon, its here with a vengeance! :wow: pesky stuff just fell down at about 4.50 p.m. and is still carrying on! tsk tsk...little one went loopdeloop and is at this very moment outside building a snowman.... :) bless, its such fun watching them from the window, inside in the warm!

its very quiet outside i must say, even though the cars are still going past...albeit very slowly!

We've got the awful stuff, lots of it, and my boys will be home from school now until it gets better. I've already had a letter from little little Tri's school, but I told big little Tri's headteacher that I'm not going to attempt to drive 12 miles to get him to school, it took 3 hours last year to get him home when it snowed. :(

Besides...I don't drive in the stuff, I get my Dad to do it all in his Land Cruiser :hihi:  :hihi:

Snowdrifts, blizzards, white out...

So I decided to go to a 'neighbouring' town (20 miles away) today

I didn't mind the snow, just the useless drivers crawling along at 20 mph all the way back - grrr.

The road was perfectly well gritted and was no worse than a rainy day, those drivers shouldn't have been on the road if they are that useless! Grrrrr!

It was more dangerous having them there as they were holding up a string of about 10 cars (well, as far back as I could see in my mirror, so perhaps more) and I was just about dozing off with the tedium of it!

What's up with everyone in the snow??! Ooops perhaps I should be off to ranter's corner now  Sorreee!

its the ice thats effected us the most
we had a hail shower today and it just froze solid, all the roads are like glass, and there have been scores of accidents!

please do drive carefully everybody, yorkshire certainly isn't very safe at the moment.

hollygolightly
28-01-04, 08:44 PM
Yorkshire isn't safe, I agree Beth. It took me 20 minutes to walk from work to the car park :wow: - the pavements were really dangerously icy.... then three drunken men walked past me: 1 fell three times, they were all shouting and then another one came from out of nowhere running towards me with his face covered in blood and cuts.

Scary. :o

Blue Cow
28-01-04, 09:19 PM
OMG Holly - that sounds really disturbing.

I fell over today whilst having a snow throwing fight with my two year old. It hurts a lot more when you get older :(

The roads aren't safe at all where I am.

LOLOL my very first words when i looked out the window!! lmao.. come on hubs let's go PLAAAAY! hehe (me and vanner have biiiiig 4x4 mpv's to play with hehe)

kids *loved* the snow we had - about an inch in 20 mins or so - plenty to play with!

hehe we did get shouted at from snooty cow next door tho :hihi: for christ's sake women.. it's *only* snow for heaven's sake!! don't u remember being a kid one! jeez! we just laughed and went down the road and had a huge snowball fight with the nice neighbours kids! i think we used all the snow up around here now lolz

madam hasn't seen snow before - she is just over 2, and was well sporting - wrapped up nice and warm like the others in her little bunny rabbit hat, scarf - and her little hands are big enough for proper gloves now! *sniff* a sign that she is growing up! *cries* she was running about, making snowballs running up to people and throwing it at them! a few landed on her too - not surprising as there were about 8 of us out there mid snowball war! she *loved* it! awww

At about Tonto time (that to anyone not old enough to remember the Lone Ranger is ten 2 ten) Monday night it started here and went on til about 1 am. and then just froze.

Drove (or should I skated in the car) off the drive and eventually got to a main road and travelled 30 miles where there was NOT white stuff.

Had loads of snow at about noon and then rain. Skated the 30 odd miles back and had more white bits dropping out the sky tonight and howling winds............Bbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhh

Have purchased 12 bottles of stella for my friends and I to drink tomorrow night, they are outside on the doorstep, chilling to perfection. ;) :hihi:

It was pretty dodgy sliding over most of the roads in my car yesterday afternoon.......plenty of black ice everywhere too, very nasty. :o

Looks like it's not going to last much longer now though.

Well, yesterday I thought I heard an explosion halfway through the morning, but it must have been thunder cos about half an hour later the heavens opened and it lashed down with rain and hail. :(

An hour or so later I saw the first swirling flakes of snow :) It lasted for about ten minutes and then stopped :( By late afternoon the sun was shining *sigh*

I don't think it's even dipped below zero since Monday. S'pose I should be grateful but I'm secretly disappointed :(

Oh, btw, try putting a pair of socks OVER your shoes, might make you look silly but might stop you sliding. :)

yep! .. got some snow, and ice ...and chilly bits :P

If anyone was wondering a cliosport is
absolutly useless!!!
in this weather .... think i've done some real damage to the clutch and stuff ...its either stall or spin ;)...

/me looks enviously at cars with thin tyres, or that have 4x4

After 3 and half hours trying to get home i gave up, parked, and walked home!
... i was falling over all over the place too ever since this weather came, i think i will not wear werk shoes tomorow ;) ...even when i went back to get the car at 8pm-ish still the streets were bumper to bumper with cars as far as the eye could see!
..darn wedder....

...the countryside looks pretty though :D

Well it wasn't bad once I got out onto the main roads, so Big Little Tri went to school afterall (He doesn't like a break in routine). Little little Tri had a Snow Day though...His school was most definitely closed.

I've never driven this car in the snow before, but found myself very confident and not needing to call out the Cavalry (Dad) :D So I'm feeling very pleased with myself.

I'm not such a useless driver in the snow after all, and ended up critisizing (probably spelt it wrong  ) the people who were better off walking

Lol Misty!!

How funny, someone told me yesterday that I should try socks OVER the shoes to stop slipping about - I'd never heard of that one and now I see it here too

No more snow here, but the original has frozen over like a skating rink - I am hopeless, just can't keep my balance...hence I am sorely tempted with these Socks/shoes thing :hihi:
