NOISE COMPLAINT: Conrad De Souza outside court

By Cherry Wilson

A FATHER-of-three is taking legal action against the head of Croydon police (http://www.thisiscroydontoday.co.uk/topics/company/croydonpolice) over claims noise pollution is "making his life hell".

Conrad De Souza has launched a private prosecution against Borough (http://www.thisiscroydontoday.co.uk/topics/company/borough) Commander Adrian Roberts (http://www.thisiscroydontoday.co.uk/topics/person/adrianroberts) and Phil Minns, the canteen manager at Croydon police station (http://www.thisiscroydontoday.co.uk/topics/place/croydonpolicestation).

Mr De Souza, 58, of Friends Road, has lived next to the police headquarters on Park Lane for more than 20 years and claims the noise coming from his neighbours is "unbearable".

'NOISY' COP IN THE DOCK (http://www.mirror.co.uk/opinion/voiceofthemirror/2011/01/07/noisy-cop-in-the-dock-115875-22831937/)

A senior policeman appeared in court yesterday accused of letting staff at his station "torture" residents with 24-hour anti-social noise. Borough Commander Adrian Roberts denies claims from civil engineer Conrad De Souza, 58, that his police station is a neighbour from hell.
But Mr De Souza said the "horrendous" blaring of sirens, barking dogs and slamming doors at Croydon police station has left him needing treatment for stress. And other residents had kept quiet because they are "afraid of the police", he said.
He added: "This can happen at any time. I consider this close to torture conditions."

Mr De Souza has also accused the station's canteen manager of contributing to his distress.
It is the second time the dad-of-three, who is representing himself in the private prosecution, has taken legal action against Croydon police.
